i don't wish him any ill will. he did a great job here so cheers Alex

baffled and disappointed is the feeling

they're either throwing him a bucket load of cash or something is up behind the scenes here which tbh seems unlikely given the harmony on the field etc

be very interesting to see what he says about this. then again maybe it's as simple as geography who knows
Fucks off just before the transfer window closes for a few extra pennies.....I hate the prick and that won't change

Whilst I don’t agree it’s “a done deal”
The fact he’s gone there says everything you need to know. He’s not committed.
It has to be as close as done as possible surely.

To leave his current squad in limbo 24 hours before a massive game when really we should be getting ready for final preparations says it all

The presser isn't going to go ahead is it?

The club will typically say nothing and the first we'll hear about it is Stoke announcing that he's joined them.

The club will then hoy out a cobbled together statement along the lines of "SAFC can confirm that Alex Neil has decided to join Stoke City as their new manager. The club would like to place on record our appreciation to Alex in successfully guiding us out of League One. The process to appoint a new Head coach will start immediately. Mike Dodds and Michael Proctor will take charge of first team duties for our forthcoming clash with Norwich City tomorrow lunchtime"

🙄

Normal clubs - it’s all a rumour. He’s turned down Stoke from the off and he’s taking the press conference later today. Normal service resumes.

Sunderland - Neil is in his car on his way to Stoke an hour before the press conference for tomorrows game is due to take place. Takes the job. Sunderland in the shit, again.

Said elsewhere but if he’s tempted by Stoke (!!) he’ll snap the hands off a better club at the next time of asking. Not committed to us and that’s fine, his rolling contract (which he wanted) dictates.

Recruitment. I think he’ll get control at Stoke and he’s shown his disgruntlement with ours as subtly as he possibly could have in the last couple of weeks. I reckon (just a guess) that the Costa Rican signing, taking up some of the tight budget, was the final straw for him when he wanted players for the here and now.
