AN Press conference - CANCELLED

It’s a done deal, it’s simply got to be.

They’ve contacted him straight after sacking their manager to gauge interest, told him what their conditions are and he’s fancied it.

He’s driving down to sign the contract.

We move on ….

Got to say I’m completely deflated about this mind.

This club never fails to kick you where it hurts

The press conference will reveal only that he's off. It won't be Neil taking it. It will be Dodds or Proctor, with the official club line of, can't comment at the moment while the process is ongoing etc.

I'm completely out if he goes. Only reason he would leave is if we're a mess behind the scenes. Don't want to be part of this circus anymore. Leaving for Stoke is a clear indication that we're not heading where we think we're heading.
How can we be a mess behind the scenes??

Feels like when allardyce and DB left the club this.

Absolute shit show again from the top not tiring him down to a contract where we could have at least got some compensation for him.

Same as Stewart’s contract situation……

It’s almost as if our entire football operation is in the control/hands of a bloke who’s career CV amounts to organising parents evenings for Birmingham u14s.

Is there any proof he has gone down there for talks other than O’Rourke? Just doesn’t seem right. If they are wanting to make an offer for him then surely that can be done over the phone and of serious and both Neil and Sunderland board happy for him to go then negotiations can take place next week. This all stinks and even though we have been slapped about far too many times to remember this all feels a bit weird

I wonder how many people on here have been loyal to their current employer when a new employer offers them a much better package. It's just a job to these guys, and to be fair to AN, he's never done the whole badge-kissing bollocks that some managers do.

If he's gone, then you can't blame him if the package is so much better. I don't think he owes us anything as fans, and doesn't deserve some of the comments on these threads. All of the blame rests with the board, who think a rolling contract is anything other than a liability if things go well and people notice him. Things have gone well, and presuming we haven't gone to offer a better contract then the blame is squarely with them.

Of course some fans think the manager should love the club as much as us. For those fans, the damage is arguably done even if he stays.

This.

90% of people would fuck their employer off if someone came offering a load more cash

i don't wish him any ill will. he did a great job here so cheers Alex

baffled and disappointed is the feeling

they're either throwing him a bucket load of cash or something is up behind the scenes here which tbh seems unlikely given the harmony on the field etc

be very interesting to see what he says about this. then again maybe it's as simple as geography who knows

I genuinely now think you're on the wind up. Everything about this now says that he is on his way to join yous and you're coming out with stuff like this. We have multiple reliable sources (not just Sky) saying that he is literally driving down to have talks and you say you're still not willing to believe it?

It's more to do with how he treated us last time to be honest, and how I know how Sky Sports work. I just can't get on board with what Pete O'Rourke is saying. It's just not how negotiations are done these days.
