On the plus side, we get the rest of the transfer window with Speakman using his zero experience in senior football, to make transfer decisions for a manager and formation that nobody (including him) will know yet.

That’s the sort of continuity that makes sense. I’m told.

Surely he must have seen how shit things are at Stoke last week? There was hardly anyone there and the whole place had a shit atmosphere hanging over it. Compare that to how the sol has been bouncing then the fact that he's even talking to them means it financially driven and literally nothing else.

I wonder how many people on here have been loyal to their current employer when a new employer offers them a much better package. It's just a job to these guys, and to be fair to AN, he's never done the whole badge-kissing bollocks that some managers do.

If he's gone, then you can't blame him if the package is so much better. I don't think he owes us anything as fans, and doesn't deserve some of the comments on these threads. All of the blame rests with the board, who think a rolling contract is anything other than a liability if things go well and people notice him. Things have gone well, and presuming we haven't gone to offer a better contract then the blame is squarely with them.

Of course some fans think the manager should love the club as much as us. For those fans, the damage is arguably done even if he stays.
Nobody really cares if Barry leaves working on the trolleys at Morrisons for an extra quid an hour at Lidl

I'm still not convinced this is happening. Sky are notorious for making stuff up for click bait and views. It makes no sense why he would travel down in a car for talks. You have talks over the phone and fax, and you don't drive you go in the Coates's helicopter. I smell BS.
Would you want him as manager? Are you sure you're not creating an emotional insurance policy here?

I cannot imagine a single safc fan that is anything other than gutted by this news. Personally I don't know who I should be directing my rage at, SAFC or him
Can’t say I am expressing any rage at anyone. Just gutted.
Really can’t understand why there would be an attraction to manage Stoke over us.

There’s always two sides to a story, but with things like this you never know the details behind the decisions made by both parties.

The England job is something which I couldn’t blame Allardyce for - it’s an opportunity for a massive job that he’s always wanted.

Neil is going to talk to f***ing Stoke ffs. Fuck him.

Yeah absolutely just noting that the vibe Allardyce had was exactly the same as Neil in the run up to the departure around recruitment etc
