No it wasn’t a surprise at all. Only surprise was that LJ wasn’t sacked the previous NovemberStill a surprise though. Are you saying weird things don’t still happen?
You’re right I’m sure we’ll find an able replacement to Alex Neil easilyPresumably he has to be allowed to speak to them due to the amount of time left on his deal?
It won’t be. Stop being pathetic.
HopefullyHe absolutely is using this to get a better deal @ Sunderland.
Because if we didn't, and he wanted to go, he'd just resignWhy have we granted them permission????
And The Athletic, and numerous other journos. This board now in meltdown over something Keith Downie understands.
Jesus wept.
Seems certain he wants to go and the deal has already effectively been done. Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if some unofficial talks took place last week at the game
Which would be understandable. Maybe things have gone a bit wrong behind the scenes. Certainly haven't on the pitch. As I said maybe he was offered a deal already as a reward for promotion but delayed it/turned it down.As Hunter insinuated in May and repeated the other day, the club had to do as much as possible to retain his services if they wanted to keep him long term. Sort out the contract and make concessions on certain recruitment decisions.
Obviously this is speculation on my part, but I suspect the signing of the Costa Rican boy is more of a club decision than an Alex Neil decision and it hasn’t gone down well given what we need in the market. Perhaps the pursuit of the French boy is similar too.
If there are differences of opinion on recruitment and there’s a potential offer elsewhere with better terms and more control then it’s inevitable Neil will at least consider it. Especially if it’s a club geographically closer to his wife and family.
If, and it's a big if, that is the case, the most depressing thing about it is how a manager who has already achieved "hero" status would even contemplate leaving. Unless, of course Madrox are still sniffing around in KLD's office making his position almost untenable. He’s obviously told the board he wants to talk to them. This is so depressing.
Maybe's had no choice with the contract he's on, we don't know what's written in it.Why have we granted them permission????
I'm just replying to someone who said there was no evidence, albeit shakyIt means fuck all, I remeber this place lumping on a complete outsider when we sacked one of our many managers before and getting them to be the bookies favourites.

Yes I would, he's tinyYou wouldn’t say that to his face
