Honestly, some of these shots look premeditated, from both sides today.....You don't play cricket like that!
I played in the lower leagues in sheffield, I was abject, I'll hold me hands up....We once played a team from Hillsborough, Wynn Gardens..I knew their bowlers, went to the Wednesday games with them...
One game, we needed about 50 offa 3 overs, totally bllxed, just tapping it out, before the pub
I was batting, me mate was bowling..He says to me.
"Andy...If you play a reverse sweep off me ball in the next over...I'll buy you a pint"
Well I sorted told him....
"Gimme the nod, bowl it straight..I'll give it a bash"
"I''ll take hankie, wipe me brow...Thats the ball"
So...I'm facing, He walks back to his mark...takes his hankie out..I start turning the bat in me hand before he even starts his run
He launches it....I stoop...the ball hits me full square on the f.ookin' forehead..He collapses...I think
"Thank f.ook he didn't appeal for LBW!....Me head was dead in front of middle...
