2nd test Old Trafford

That was a good delivery today. Would have got better batsmen than Lee out.

Doesn’t excuse how shite he’s been across the rest of the summer mind. Think he’s got a bit of a pass because of how wank Crawley has been.
Aye fair point and lack of viable other options.

We are really struggling in the top two whichever openers in the country we pick imo

Wonder how long before the spin is in play here?

nortje after these two
.

that last over to Crawley, does he look like he is letting the ball , come closer before the bat is being deployed?

Bowlers were always going to be on top in this series mind!

Two quality bowling attacks against suspect batting teams.

These scores not that unexpected imo.

Recent openers are all as bad as each other..Crawley, sibley, lees etc
We need to just take it away fro S.A this afternoon and Tomorrow....
Best way of doing that would be two openers that can simply grind out a couple of sessions....I'm not confident we have them
Its an art that has seemingly left english cricket, I like a forward defensive as much as I like an off drive, its a good cricket shot, in the right circumstances.
due to the fixation on "White ball" cricket, its now unappreciated..England bat for 4 sessions now, we probably win the game, don't need to reverse sweep, scoop owt, hook owt,, just simple attritional batting...job done..will it happen?
Nah..I honestly don't think we have the players to do it

Pope big edge but down through the left of second slip, but didn’t carry and it’s 4

my spin question answered 10th over

34 for 1

I think rightly or wrongly the England management have the opposite view, in that they feel simply just staying at the crease will mean a quality bowling attack will get you sooner or later.

So want the batsman to take attack to them at times to get runs while at the crease, rather than stay at the crease for longer with no runs.

Which would happen with something like Sibley imo.

As with everything it’s about getting the balance right between the two.
