Franklin Out!!!

Not to the quality we have produced in the past young lads been chucked in before they are ready. We are very short on experienced pros to bring younger players along.

That's because our coach keeps falling out with the senior players meaning the youngsters are getting tossed in when we need them, not when they're ready. Take for example Mackintosh. Were so lucky he hit the ground running, he wasn't even getting good scores for the twos when he got promoted and has been fantastic since

I'm all for playing the younger players and stand by that view. To my surprise & dissapointment, some of the senior haven't stepped up in terms of support (I've mentioned some examples when the captain needed to show leadership and go over to the younger players and put an arm round them instead of ignoring them for example) & numerous times the young players have been let down by the coach/selectors. The one senior player who has supported best is Rushworth. Goes without saying we need to see changes.
Raine is good with the youngsters too.

Has Chairman Beefy had anything to say about Franklin? He's not usually one for sitting on the fence.

Would be interesting to know how high up his list of priorities Durham's results are to be honest. I'm sure he'd make all the right noises if asked but he's hardly a bloke with much free space in his calendar and I can imagine being sir Ian Botham takes up an awfully lot of time and energy

Bless. Must be exhausting for him.

I sat next to Alex Lees at the meet the players evening. It was striking that before he said very much to us, he jumped in with how well the players got on with Campbell, liked his fresh approach etc, but not that there was anything wrong with Franklin.

I appreciated him saying anything to be fair, but it seemed a bit scripted to me. Anyone could see that things weren’t right last year. The improvement with just a few minor changes has been phenomenal. That can only be down to the coaching and not the fact that the players weren’t up to the job. See Graham Clark as an example. Couldn’t even get a game in the CC for 3-4 years.

I've had numerous players, some coaching staff and also some behind the scene staff saying the very same things. Not a good word to say about Franklin. As someone said to me "the players aren't frightened to make mistakes now like they used to be".

was suprised to still see him kicking around gateshead Fell recently, think one of his kids plays there still, thought he'd be long gone from the area
