After nearly 41k at the first game and a good win at Bristol last week, that's pretty piss poor in comparison.
1,000-1,500 less home fans is hardly "piss poor"

What's piss poor is you making the comment in the first place.

There's likely to be 38,000 Sunderland fans in the ground and you're basically criticising it. No matter how you're trying to explain how you've worded it, it's a pretty piss poor thing to say.

I've not said it's poor, but the drop off is more than can be accounted for by the smaller number of away supporters. I'm just surprised it's not higher given the performances in the two games we've played.

Came back in the afternoon yesterday.
Your exact words (I have copied and pasted)

" After nearly 41k at the first game and a good win at Bristol last week, that's pretty piss poor in comparison ".

Correct you didn't say "poor", you said "piss poor", which is a step up from just plain poor.

Quit while you're behind

Grumpy has had a mare but he’s doubling down. Weird.
I find it amazing and sad when fellow Sunderland fans criticise our support in such a manner.

Four years in league one preceded by successive relegations preceded by numerous relegation fights that included embarrassing shite like the 15 and 19 point seasons equates to support arguably unparalleled anywhere in world football.

Around 40k interested enough to attend second tier football after all that is simply incredible.

GOM will be feeling guilty now the Friday night drink has worn off. He’s a good fan who puts the miles in following our club but he should know better than using terminology like piss poor to describe our following.

I will admit that I was a bottle of wine and a couple of gins in.

I was never trying, even remotely, to suggest that hat the attendance is poor, because it's not. It simply looks odd, given the last gate and the performances so far, even allowing for 1,000 less away fans. Maybe naive, but I was surprised.

Of course, we'll now sell 2,500 today, and I'll look even more of a tit.

Woah…. let’s not crucify someone for a comment made in haste and probably drink, we’ve all made those.

Grumpy knows how good our support is, he is part of it and goes home and away most weeks despite living in Bristol

Edit; I see he has explained himself above
