New Stadium Measures

Did they? This is the third statement that they've released by my count. One straight after the incident to condemn and say they're looking into it, one to say they're upping the stewarding and one to reiterate this and provide info about what this will mean on match day. Given they aren't gonna move the away fans till summer 23 at the earliest and that any proposed netting will need to be properly investigated (and would take a fair old while to implement), I don't really know how much more they can do in a short period of time.
They released the initial statement acknowledging the incident and condemning what happened. That was 48hrs after on the Tuesday.
Ive not seen any other until this morning and that's still 4 days after meeting with fan groups on Monday

Every stand should be blocked off, or every ticket should be made the same price.
People pay more to sit in areas they for various reasons, one of those being they prefer to watch the game and be away from the young ones there to be with their mates, have a laugh and be rowdy (perfectly fine)
but it’s a bit of a ball ache when those kids who will have a family enclosure ticket just rock up in areas with empty seats and someone’s paid good money to be away from them.
This will undoubtedly force youngsters in groups elsewhere now

Tomorow there will be people in the north moving seats though and they know it.

People migrate from South to North as well but only south is having that restricted. Presumably they aren't stopping south stand to move anywhere else at half time if we are kicking towards north second half?
I don't know mate. I personally think there's no issue as long as there's free seats available. I don't think people should be squashed in their own seat or struggle to get to the steps.

Serious question -and apologies if seb
Does our security team meet the fans groups ? If so surely they can all help one another
Did hear a rumour not sure if on here ? That kids were bringing in the pyros stuffed down their fronts which obv makes it difficult for those searching ?
Bit like cops -if they search a kid ( public outrage /if they dint and someone gets injured which could’ve me as I sit in north stand we ( we would complain )
Not sure what answer is as I’m not up on search laws
I believe they do.

That is only a convenient rumour about kids being used to bring pyro in, if the sniffer dogs were so effective they would pick up on them whether it be an adult or a kid.

The short term solution would be a police presence in the away end however the club are too tight to pay for this and would rather pay a tenner an hour to a 19 year old student from the local university.

Thought we already knew about the stewarding training. Did that come out via another source? Maybe amendments to the supporters group meeting minutes?

You can already see what's going to happen, only those with tickets on the Roker end can access the turnstiles but by some cock up, all tickets can't access the Roker end at all and causes massive congestion
What are tonight's Euromillions number oh wise oracle?

I agree. I used to sit (stand) in south stand at the back but changed to north championship season as it was 4 people per seat and started taking the bairn so its been a problem for at least 3 years in the prem and since but only now they get a letter to make them change it - immediately after Coventry when they know people will absolutely move from the north?

Possibly mate....but the only official statements are the one this morning and the other on the Tuesday condemning the Coventry fans.
I mean Saturday is really low key in terms of away support and it will be put to the test when Wigan come up with that faux rivalry and around 3k I'd imagine.

Wigan won't be bringing their entire support marra;)

This is a bit of a tricky one tbf. The only way to truly mitigate the problem is to move the away fans. It is an issue that is impossible to eradicate fully - even by doing that. Short term, all they can do is increase steward presence, improve stewarding quality and maybe up the police presence. Medium term a net would help with bigger things (though would do nowt for coins etc). There is a significant part of this that is just that football fans are often f***ing arseholes and we can't plan to completely remove that threat. Undoubtedly more can be done, but I dunno how much can be sorted quickly.

Anybody can be searched. It's a condition of entry into the ground when you buy a ticket.

Wouldn’t be too tight after someone got badly injured
Horse -bolted -gate
I agree a Police presence is needed up there ( there is one as they go in so not sure where they go when match is in progress ? Maybe they are in with away fans already ?

Don’t worry lads, doesn’t matter if you get hit by bottles from up a height, so long as some kid isn’t stood up near you.

Pathetic once again by the club. They need to sort the management of this place out, it’s going down the pan rapidly

It's fine mate. We have the systems from Minority Report implemented now to save us.
Aren't they? They've said that other measures are in review and further changes should be expected. Again, they aren't moving the away fans till summer 2023 at the earliest and they can't just throw a net up in a few days. I dunno what more they can do other than training. Maybe an increased police presence? It's not gonna satisfy people who have had bad recent experience, understandably, but I don't know how much more the club could have practically achieved in 12 days.

I've suggested a temp solution until a more permanent one can be made however they won't do that as that would mean having to open the ticket office, god forbid.

Also, let's not pretend this is two weeks ago. They've had years to sort it and haven't. They even said in the RAWA meeting prior to the match they had no intention of safety.

As someone who has elsewhere on here been massively critical of the way the ticket office and club shop has been ran of late, I honestly don't believe there is much more they could have done in less than 2 weeks in regards to the measures they have taken with regards to the north and south stands.

- South Stand; simple way to stop overcrowding, you only can gain access with a ticket for a seat there....it surely will solve the issue IF they have actually sealed off walkways and turnstiles there only accept tickets for seats in south stand blocks....don't see why an issue?

- Away fans; as awful as the situation is I don't see what more they are supposed to do/or rather have done since the Cov game....installing a net will require lead in times for the contractor(s) to order, deliver and install it (we are talking a net to take into account the entire width of the stand and which will have to be installed via many fixing points which will have to be carefully considered and installed), not to mention health and safety inspections to be passed by whichever body is responsible for signing off safety changes to sports stadia. People think the whole process can be done in a day but trust me from someone who has worked in construction, procurement and project management for years, it can't. If it was done in a few days I'd question it tbf.

Having said that, putting the away fans up there years ago WAS a mistake. However, I believe the issues will get sorted, they'll just take a bit longer than many are expecting.
