The Hundred 2022 Match Thread

93 off 63 scored

i fancied 157 early and I feel they will need that , so that’s about 63 or so off 36 from now on in

Do you think you’d buy into it more if there were 10 franchises but Durham and Somerset got the next two?
Ive posted exactly that. It’s always been my view this should have been all in. Or as it stands , games shared to those that don’t have the franchise based there. So the northern team would play a couple at CLS

same for Somerset and Gloucester, with Kent, Sussex and hampshire.

do that, I suspect it will settle a lot of the outrage down
..

oh Ravi is now in

Exactly it’s because we have done it half arsed.

We needed one top quality short format at a time that exposes it to the biggest audience possible.

At that the same time we needed cricket fans to embrace short format cricket and that it is both popular, highly skilled and here to stay.

By doing that it would give other cricket more time in the calendar.
We’re paying the price for everyone not getting round the table 10 years ago and not thrashing this out once and for all.

Meh. Doubt it would have much affect on anything up here or in the West Country.

Crane impresses me with his leg spin but it looks like he is out of the reckoning for any England honours again

Unbelievable!!

I must have imagined all them debates we had well before ‘ the hundred was even thought off, when I was saying how great T20 cricket was ,how enjoyable and entertaining it was and needs to be at embraced and accepted to attract new blood.

While you were saying it was “not proper cricket’ ‘ hit and giggle’ cricket etc etc.

Yeah, clearly your memory isn’t very good is it. This is a massive false equivalence. Calling it ‘not proper cricket’ isn’t saying I don’t like it or don’t believe there’s a time and place and indeed a need for it in the cricketing schedule. I remember the ‘proper cricket’ debates all too well actually. The crux of it was me, most others on this board and most cricketing pundits and journalists agreeing that ‘proper cricket’ is the red ball stuff played in white clothing and you getting all hysterical as f*ck and offended at the use of that term. No offence was intended and no hysteria was ever needed off the back of it.

It still happens today. Listen to TMS or anything on Sky when they refer to Test Matches as ‘proper cricket’.

It’s just a saying. No need to cry.

Christ I even remember you saying you hated it because it wasn’t played in whites, such was your old outdated views on it.

I’m going to need proof of this. Otherwise please retract and apologise. That’s quite the slur against me I’m afraid. Sarcasm aside that simply isn’t something that I’ve ever believed.

You not seriously saying you were all for it and always wanted it in peak season??

Yes. Vast amounts of evidence from various times on various threads about either the domestic T20 or the domestic structure as a whole where I’ve argued this.
the likes of yourself after years and years of criticizing T20 cricket!!

Again, another lie. Please retract.

Why don't you two organise an indoor net at the Riverside and see who is first to duck out against the bowling machine getting faster with each ball. It would be a canny way to call a truce

fair enough, it did its job. was entertaining enough for me as a cricket fan but it kept our lass (no) entertained and got her interested enough to consider going up to chelmsford for a t20. she even mentioned during the run chase that the scoreboard was wrong (the digi boards were counting down the score rather than showing current runs and target) so i pointed her to the proper scoreboard.

Enjoyed The Hundred last season, but just can’t get into it this this season. Much prefer T20.
as do i (regarding t20), but it's getting new people into the game and it's easier to explain to people new to cricket than the other formats. once they have an interest, they're more willing to spend time learning about the game, rather than think fuck that, boring and go back to other sports.
