Durham v Middlesex 7/8/22


The club has just given up on this season. Didn't look like much belief to start with mind.

Bancroft wasn't half as bad as some make out mind. It was a club decision not to go back for him. I personally didn't mind him. Recruitment this season has been an absolute shambles.

He was outstanding in 2019 and poor in 2021, but still better than either of the aforementioned clowns. Isn't the idea of an overseas player to give you a boost in quality not provide a service for out of form players?

So at the members forum Marcus North (the fella who said the young chase the money but he himself has gone off to the 100), said Maddinson was a value for money signing in that he would be available & can do a bit of both (bat and bowl).... So far he's not bowled in this competition which raises the question, what is the current purpose of him? You then have to ask why is Doneathy not bowling for? It's an absolute sorry state this

Yup. Ironically Doneathy bowled just now in the 30th over and Maddinson in the 35th over. We've taken 2 wickets in approx 60-65 overs in this competition so far and that's how long it's taken the captain to try something different... Absolutely ridiculous & completely unacceptable
 
I could take failing to defend a score loke that but to lose it by NINE wickets is a joke.

Marty on commentary said that Middlesex broke the first and second wicket records against Durham in this match.

I noticed same thing, you could tell he was upset/annoyed with himself. Needed someone to tell him to keep his chin up

Couldn't believe what I was watching, felt sorry for the young lad. Will stick in my mind for a while that given the state of things at the moment. Big changes needed.
 
Positives today - good craic in the Trapdoor Stand throughout the match, Jones' s century..er..that's about it.

Sadly it was like watching Durham in 1996 today.
