It’s basically the same as T20 competitions it’s only 20 balls less!!

Livingstone batted for 28 balls and got 47. Was far more controlled in the innings and that’s exactly what I want to see from him
 
Just watched 5 minutes of the 100. Totally confused to see Joe Root not playing for his county. Then I googled it. Seems a huge crowd as well which I thought surprising. The times are certainly changing .... commentator has just said 1 nil to Newcastle. Well how is that relevant to one day cricket.

Yes,as your 1st sentence reveals,it's a surplus competition.
In the 2nd sentence, It's the fact that the cameras focus on a small element in the crowd applauding a mundane incident,attempting to convey every moment is exceptional.
I.e. It's an unnecessary and over-hyped competition.

It’s seems a recurring theme, that certain posters seem annoyed people are happy and enjoying themselves!!

Yes there is hype about it but so what, what’s wrong with a bit of enthusiasm and going a little bit over the top, it normally means people are enjoying themselves having fun and enjoying and been happy watching!

I really fail to see how that is soo bad?

I have heard similar things said about the IPL, but all I see with everyone concerned is a great time had by all.

Although I do agree with your first point and said many times no need for two short format completions as squeezes the schedule too much.

Perhaps you should step back and consider what exactly the complaints are.I've never read any posts objecting to people enjoying themselves,it's the publicity and over-hyping of a surplus competition and the financial outlay in doing so compared to T20 that causes the discontent.

Well the financial outlay is fair enough and a different argument all together, as is the surplus competition.

My point been there is nothing wrong with over hyping and been over enthusiastic about something.

It could be argued that’s a good thing.

Well yeah I agree.

What I was trying to get across is people have been throwing the over hype stuff at competitions like the IPL, well before The Hundred was even thought off.

And I have never understood people getting annoyed in general, over really enthusiastic and a bit over the top commentators, personally I enjoy and like people getting over enthusiastic about cricket.

Wasn't aware that there was any need to over-hype a competition in India where there are a billion fanatical followers.
I repeat

Yeah like I said , fully agree, no bigger fan of ‘ The Blast’ on here than me, I was praising it for years on here and the high skills involved while others were calling it pyjama and hit and giggle cricket.

So of course I wish there had been as high profile and enthusiastic coverage of ‘ The Blast ‘ as there is of ‘ The Hundred’ and it’s very unfortunate there wasn’t so again totally agree.

However that doesn’t change my opinion, that when there is cricket on the telly in any format, I am over the moon when cricket is getting a lot of coverage, and if that coverage is over the top and over enthusiastic, then that’s fine by me.

Another good game. Benny Howell looking fantastic again in this format, as he did last year. Should have bowler his overs sets early door imo to put a bit of pressure on. Looks very difficult to score against.

Now do you see how it is so dangerous to county cricket?

You get this put to you on an almost daily basis, that it’s not that anyone has any issue with people enjoying cricket. It’s that anyone with a solitary brain cell can see that it will be the death of domestic cricket as we know it in this country.

So you keep clapping along like a sea lion if you want, but those of us on here who give a f*ck about Durham CCC and the other 17 counties will continue to be concerned about why the powers that be keep forcing this through when it is absolutely haemorrhaging money. OUR money.

You don’t care about the counties. You tell us that all the time. BUT, beware, that if the counties aren’t there to produce the talent - there won’t be any talent in your precious 16.4. Cause a load of franchises won’t be putting the time, effort and money in to find and nurture talent the way the counties do.

Aye, over about 40 years of watching cricket I have seen plenty of times cameras panning the ground showing people asleep watching cricket!!

Now we have fans complaining about pundits and fans get over excited about cricket!!

I think the potential changes to the CC will hasten in the demise of some counties. The idea of a "premier League" of 12 and the 6 also rans pissing about by themselves. No doubt the 6 counties will be offered a huge bribe to accept it.

I'll bet if it happens, the counties that are already hosting 100 teams currently will be in the premier League.

It doesn't look good for Worcs, Durham, Derbys, Leics and Sussex who are all struggling in Div 2 and don't host a 100 team.

By next year, the 16.4 will have had more money spent on promotion than all other English domestic cricket ever. Thats all competitions, ever. And they still can't sell out the grounds. It's a complete and utter disaster for our game and will lead to bankruptcy.

The problem is, that's the whole point.

And now I see that it's OK to 'overhype' terrible cricket FFS. That it's actually a good thing that bad play is called super! brilliant! outstanding! world class! As long as there's a idiot in a branded shirt and a branded wig who believes the hype, it's all good.

Let’s invent a new concept to attract young audience families and children to increase participation in the game of cricket.

But guys don’t be enthusiastic about it, don’t promote it, don’t make out that cricket is fun and exciting.

Just tell these new people it is terrible!!
Especially these 10 year old impressionable child’s ,don’t get excited whatever you do, as kids don’t like fun and excitement!
