The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

If anyone really cares about this repeated nonsense then action needs taking immediately.

That means an announcement from the club and police in what investigations are taking place.

It also means involvement from the FA / EFL. Coventry need to have the threat of a points deduction and reduced away allocations until their fans learn how to behave.

It's no good the club making platitudes to the fan base in their marketing communications and then failing to go in strong when their fans are having to deal with preventable shit like this.

Unless fan groups act, the club will do nothing. The club couldn’t even be arsed to make a statement after the match ffs

We have to be the worst club in Britain for not speaking up on behalf of our own fan base. It’s almost like they don’t want to acknowledge the problem as they will then have to deal with it

Coventry… shit hole of a place with fans that can’t decide whether they want to support their club or not.
Our gates will never… ever… fall as low as theirs did.
Best thing be ever seen is 20 of their 6 stone wet through Danny dyer wannabes being brayed out of pub by half a dozen Sunderland gadgies.
I have relatives in Coventry and have visited many times and can assure you that it is not a shit hole, in fact its just this year finished its time as the city of culture, the only problem is that its infested with arseholes.

Remember though we once did similar ;)

I wouldn't dispute we also have arseholes in our support who also do the same, but 99.9% of our fans aren't which gives us the right to condemn the actions of the Coventry fans yesterday. I was sitting right over towards the North End of the East stand and could see with my own eyes the amount of missiles thrown down on our fans and it was disgusting. How nobody wasn't seriously injured I don't know.

If we play them again next season I'd refuse to allocate them any tickets.

Bastards that’s horrible. Still think they should move away fans to the bottom
Corner somewhere. Before someone gets seriously hurt.
Nowt wrong with where they were. Created a bit of atmosphere with the home fans on either side of them. Some absolute scum bags out there. Won’t be the last time it happens. Needs to be seriously looked at where the away fans are put.

Moving them isnt the answer pleanty other clubs have away fans above the home and dont have issues because they actually police it properly unlike us who refuse it seems to pay for the extra policing. Tbh even when the away fans were in the south stand things got thrown sideways. Put them back in there and you will not only have to move the whole south stand but the south east corner aswell as it isnt feesable to have the family zone next to the idiots

The clubs arguements for not moving the away fans into a corner for years were that the ground was built with the cells downstairs from the south stand. So they were moved upstairs into the North Stand. Stick em in the NE corner, that’ll generate some atmosphere in the North Stand and allow the South Stand to become a proper family-disabled end.

Give those who have to move a good sized club shop voucher as compo and get the ticket office to go out of their way to help them relocate.

Seriously?
Throwing glass bottles from that height (I'm not bothered about smoke bombs) is arguably the worst thing you can do at a match. There was a load of kids below and some could have been very seriously injured.
I generally think football-related offences are far too severe and if lads want to have a fight with other like-minded lads, away from a ground then fair-enough. This however, should carry a very hefty jail-sentence and I wouldn't give Coventry a single ticket until they get their own house in order and self Police this shit. Its the most dangerous and cowardly act you can do up there. The perpetrator should have been kicked to fuck by other Coventry lads.

Unless there was two, the smoke bomb landed in row 11
Yeah just the one smoke canister landed in row 11 and the old fella who it hit threw it out onto the edge of the pitch. The glass bottle landed row 14 and smashed all over the seats in row 13. If the people who normally sit in their seats hadn't been on holiday there would have been a serious injury.
Time has come now the away fans can't be housed in that area any longer without some kind of netting or perspex cover at the front of the stand. Or move them somewhere in the lower bowl.

This.
Also doesn't help with the attitude of the Cov football police twitter account, bad mouthing the city to one of their fans before the match.

Very unprofressional and childish mate

Not all of us are *****,it’s embarrassing that some of our fans find that okay. Takes away from what was an alright game of football

Sorry mate it’s in your culture, you chose whether to be part of it or not. That you choose to be you part it week in week out and in effect endorse it makes you part of the problem.
I will tell you this for a fact if this was Sunderland fans bringing the club into dispute the perpetrators would be sorted out by other fans.
So take some responsibility, if your going to come on here say your ashamed and apologise. Simply stating we are not all bad don’t cut it mate.

Absolutely no idea why anyone thinks it’s a good idea to have them up there. Far too easy for cowards to chuck things down. It’ll be their equivalent to half time pint chuckers that do it.

Was better when they were in the south stand anyway.

Think yesterday has brought it to a head and something needs to be done before the next home match. That probably means some kind of netting or perspex at the front of the stand.
Assume it's too late to move them this season but from next season I assume they'll look to move them back into the South Stand.

Coventry being the main offenders, it’s unlikely to be as much as a problem for the majority of games, so probably a bit pointless now, but really should have been done pre-season.
