Booth chose the opponent. Hearn was only doing his matchmaking duties to fulfill a request.

Eddie Hearn is a weasel but in Kelly's career, he's been absolutely blameless.

They always try that and it barely ever works. You go to the amateur shows and most the boxers are mates and people go and watch the shows from all over the North East and no one gives much a fuck about the football rivalry.

They'll do out to sell a fight but they really need the right characters to do so. Kelly's been pro for about five years now and barely brought up football and now we are meant to buy into it when he hasn't even fought in Sunderland.

I said this when he turned over but he should have fought about ten times in his first two years and 6 of those fights should have been at Rainton Meadows to get a Sunderland fan base. It's too late now.

Kelly should never have been in that fight at that point.
He was there because of the Hearn/Matchroom machine.

I’ve never known Football come in to it at amateur level, it’s weird.

It’s hardly worked tonight either. Red and white shorts I’m all for, but the whole forced SAFC v NUFC backstory to this card has been meffin.
