Yes this one is my last county championship game at home as I very much doubt I will get time off in September for the Sussex game. As boring as the game is, I'm merely just using up my annual leave. Had it been earlier in the season I'd have cancelled today and tomorrow and gone to workWell I survived till Bedingham got cleaned up yesterday and that was enough for me.
Another very slow wicket where it looks neither team have the bowlers to take 20 wickets. I thought Middx went defensive with fielders on the boundary far to early. There front line slow bowler looked about the same standard as our leg spinner. Jesus this obsession counties have with leg spin when they are clearly T20 bowlers. Although that's probably the reason
The best I have seen Jones bat and really pleased for him. Maddinson reminds me of Charlie Chaplin with his moustache and ten to two feet. No wonder he got run out.
Iam there this afternoon and sadly that is my last championship cricket of the season at the Riverside which is frightening for another year.
Yeah if this is going to be the way the wickets are now there is going to have to be a change in planning and strategy. I was pleased to hear in your update from the members forum that North in hindsight would have tried to sign an overseas bowler rather than bat. Really no need for two batsmen.Yes this one is my last county championship game at home as I very much doubt I will get time off in September for the Sussex game. It was boring yesterday but good craic with the usual faces hence I stick around. A lot of people questioning memberships/as much attendance next season with these wickets though as they feel it's very boring to watch. General feeling seems to be we all accept the odd flag wicket but it's pretty much every game this season which doesn't make for good cricket & viewing. North mentioned the state of the balls is unacceptable. He said Botham has a box of signed 2018 cricket balls (apparently they get date stamped) and they said their is a noticeable difference with the seam condition on the 2018 ball compared to the 2022Yeah if this is going to be the way the wickets are now there is going to have to be a change in planning and strategy. Can you imagine some of the Durham batsman from the past especially the youngsters making their way who look at the wickets over the past two years compared to the wickets they had to try and develop on.Agree on leg spinners.
Also on Jones. He looked top class to me - but then I keep having to remind myself that this season the ball does nothing and the pitches are as flat as owt. Not a criticism of Jones, he can only deal with what there is and he's done very well and his improvement might just be an age thing as in all of a sudden the whole batting thing just clicks! Wonder if England can come sniffing as he's already played for Scotland.
Daley, Hutton and Blenkiron immediately spring to mind. Can you imagine some of the Durham batsman from the past especially the youngsters making their way who look at the wickets over the past two years compared to the wickets they had to try and develop on.
The “old” scoreboard says no 10 has bowled two overs, not Macalindon who is 28
I thought he was meant to be a youngster... #Franxit
1 run in 10 overs this morning I make it. Might as well shake hands now.Well this is fun....
