Friendlies

Just seen Arsenal spanked Chelsea 4-0

And did you see Tuchel's press conference after the game? He was fuming, I guess preparation and friendlies mean more to him. He wasn't happy at all, so much for friendlies just being about fitness, it's a poor excuse. If I play any game, I want to win and play well, unsure why players would be any different? Of course the result doesn't matter, but individual and collective performances do imo.
They sort of don’t mean anything but if you lost them all six nowt it doesn’t bode well

Coventry have won all of their games, I guess we'll know soon enough how important they are.

I don't read too much into friendlies to be honest. We've had pre seasons where we've lost a load of friendlies and had good seasons and others where we've won loads and had a shocking season.

Bradford he played a lot of the young lads. Probably a good chance to have a look at where they're at to know who to keep in the squad and who to loan out.

Yesterday it appears we could have won by 5 or 6 on another day and it's likely some forward players are still just lacking a little bit of match sharpness.

I think we need new additions in our squad but I think our first 11 will do okay for the most part. The CM position alongside Evans is definitely one to look at unless he sees Dan Neil as the man there. We absolutely need a strong right back if Huggins is still out too. Other than that it's about strengthening the squad.

Not too much to be taken from a friendly but with just 7 days to kick off I think it's important that the team shows a bit of cohesion and style of play.

We got trounced 4-1 at Wigan yesterday and apparently we were awful.

Not really what you want to hear.

Our first team got beat off Accrington mate. Hopefully you're right.

There's not a chance our first team got close to enough minutes during the pre season. It is what it is. Its been poor. My little un can't wait for Sunday either way.

I like the approach we've taken by giving all the squad practically full games.
Typically managers use friendlies to give players 45 mins and then make wholesale changes at half time. That's one way to go but if you do that then your players will tire in the second half by only being half match fit . At least the way we've gone our lads are all used to playing full games. Hope our fitness is strong and it pays dividend come Sunday.
