Ya not even a Sunderland fan are ya?
If you watched us last season and our friendlies this year you can see we need squad improvement.
Nah not a Sunderland fan that’s why I watched the past few friendlies todays and paid £30 for a ticket for next Sunday

You utter f’in gonk

We completely outplayed Rangers done well against a team the won a European cup for 70 mins in Roma and then lost against Bradford and Accrington, basically they mean nothing, Fitness is key and tbh it’s better to have mistakes and poor performance’s now so the manger and owners can see what we need and rectify it.
We're unbeaten in the first halves of all 4 games 🤔 🙂

Luke Onien had a shocker when he came on .
The End product of Roberts ,Pritchard and Clarke needs to improve and become more consistent.
Onien was at fault for their goals so a shocker is fair.
We were not clinical in front of goal, that is why we lost. We should have had the game tied up at half time.

Freak results happen, but these friendlies are just reiterating what we already know. We have a league one squad that is lacking at RB CM and cover up top.
We don't have a league one squad. We have a squad who were good enough to get promoted from league one, who were the best squad in the league from when Neil took charge. We went from a squad who shipped bucket loads to a squad who were hard to break down. If we were still a league one squad, we would still be in league one.

What team does he pick now for Hartlepool?

I'm guessing the original plan was to give the 'B team' some more minutes, but with the 'A team' looking so rusty I wonder if some of them need more minutes to sharpen up? Clarke, Roberts, Wright...

I've seen plenty of pre-seasons ower the years. Do they matter ,Yes of course, Do they determine our season no they don't..

How much of a picture do they paint? Certainly red flags at the minute. Signings must be in the pipeline now

People pissing themselves over meaningless game man! This place has had us from storming the league to be relegated in a matter of days.

These games will have no bearing on the performance and result come the Coventry game.

If we’d steamrollered every team we played 5 nowt I still wouldn’t have took it as a pointer to how we’d perform on the opening day.

What’s this ‘League One squad‘ bollocks which folk keep mentioning? Define ‘League One squad’…

Since AN came in he averaged over 2pts a game, equating to enough points to have won the league any season for the last 4 years! Half the squad have never dropped as low as League One before they joined us, they’re all players from a higher level who will, arguably, be better equipped to perform at the higher level they’re used to.
Leyton Orient 6-1 Mags not too long ago didn’t they win the championship
Mentioned this a few times lately, remember it well it was the pre-season they were first relegated, under Shearer. They absolutely pissed the championship with over 100 points.

Didnt win any of their last 3 friendlies yet started their league season with 16pts after 6 games.

It's all about testing tactics, formations and players you wouldn't normally play in a league match. And also showing the higher up if we need more in certain areas. Dare say we could go get beat (as we have against Bradford etc.) make them look like Brazil. But first game of the season in the actual league, players will treat it different and be proper up for it in front of 40k at the SOL, you won't see the players who's played in the friendlies playing anything like they did in those games. Unless it was grigg or Rodwell.

Minutes in the legs for a long, tough season. Next Sunday is when it begins to matter.
The L1 Accrington players and the L2 Bradford players got minutes in their legs too. However, they still wanted to win their games.
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence quoted in this thread to support the views that pre-season results correlate positively or negatively with league performance.

In reality, memories are hazy and most posters cannot be certain which pre-seasons match with which league season.

For better or worse I reckon most of us will be on the same page come 1 September. 😉

I believe we will recruit correctly and will have equipped ourselves for a mid table championship season.
