Women’s Euros 2022

Anyone else reckon women’s football should have smaller goals to compensate for the lack of height of keepers? If a 6 ft 6 male keeper can get beaten at the far post then what chance does a 5 foot 10 woman with a far lesser reach?

Admittedly I haven’t been a dedicated watcher of women’s football to know this is a particular problem but high scoring games seems to suggest either the good teams are amazing or the poor teams are extremely poor defensively or have poor keepers.

Norway allegedly had 2 of the best strikers in the world playing yesterday yet were losing 6-0 at half time.

There’s no shame in having a small pool of countries that are competitive. I’m pretty sure rugby and cricket only has about 12 countries that can seriously compete.
No. In 1863 men were the size that women now are. So you’re watching football as it was meant to be played. If anything the goals should be made bigger in the mens game

This is exactly what BBC should be doing. Without BBC there would be no massive darts or snooker tournaments.
People watch women’s tennis and hardly anyone moans that they are watching inferior sport . Jessica Ennis would be rubbish in the decathlon.
I’ve watched both England games and will continue to do so. I wouldn’t be watching eastenders or the one show so I’m more than happy.
Haway the lasses

That is a nonsense. They are separate sports.
Same with womens boxing. I like watching it

Womens football though feels like they’re really trying to push it hard and almost trick some people into it.

I really think if they promoted the mens U21’s as much then it would be bigger than the womens football.

I really find it puzzling that because I don’t see the attraction of woman's football I’m seen as a misogynistic dinosaur.

Nobody has said that. It's fine that people don't like it.

If you go in the cricket forum, how many threads are there from people kicking off because they don't like cricket and are sick of having cricket "rammed down their throats"? I haven't looked but I'm guessing there are none, because anyone who doesn't like cricket just won't look at it.

It's the threads belittling women's football and making sexist and disrespectful comments about it that gets people's backs up. There's no need for someone be unpleasant about women just because they don't like women's football.

It will be cheap programming in comparison to most football. BBC isn’t just about getting biggest audience. I think it’s a good thing.

I agree that it’s good the BBC have a wider variety for the audience that pay for it.

Do you think if it was on something like sky sports or one of the pay extra channels it would be as popular?

Rather watch paint dry.
Thought it was a cracking game last night - way better than some of the football played by teams in L1 and I sat through that sh*t for too many seasons!

Great seeing people play football without loads of niggly tackles, rolling about from the slightest touch, spewing bad language at every decision and berating the ref’s for doing their job

Watched England last night and enjoyed the match. The commentators were awful and were droning on about how the achievement was better than any men’s or women’s teams. No need to compare with men.

White has scored a lot of goals and deserves credit for that. However, male internationals do not get to play in as many one sided games where every forward has a boat load of chances.

Personally, I will keep watching the England games but am not interested in the rest. That said, I am not interested in club matches beyond watching the lads.

Rooney got 5 against San Marino, so lets just knock him down to 48

Heres me thinking it’s 2022.

Next we will be asking all women to go home from work , quit their jobs and make the tea .
