Callum Doyle

Never played any senior games and at 17 was chucked in at the deep end by a coach with seemingly zero idea of how to organise a defence and kept in the firing line when he clearly needed a bit of respite.

He wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination but he never hid and did as well as could be expected in the circumstances.

Hope he goes onto achieve everything he wants in the game

Of. Course but if I think you are wrong and unnecessarily negative I am allowed to point this out.
But you didn’t just point it out, you questioned why he was being unnecessarily negative. Totally disregarding the fact that if the poster didn’t particularly rate Doyle then his opinion will automatically sound negative.

On the whole poor ??? Seriously...the lad was flogged to death by Johnson.
He was being bullied by opposition forwards and giving goals away through bad defensive positioning long before he was being overused by LJ.

Don't care how old he was at the time, he wasn’t what the team needed, we couldn’t afford to accommodate another club’s project.

Not ready for the Championship (yet) imo. We need some players who can actually play in the championship as we were a team who scraped into the playoffs in a very poor league and we've signed 1 player so far.

The lad imo is capable of playing in the Championship, he will possibly sign for a Championship club on loan. At 18 he is a class act

Prob because Johnson was encouraging him to try and play out to much

Best of luck Doyley.

Great learning experience for him, over-relied on by Johnson but managed better by Neil.

Good luck to the lad, still so young and should go on to have a good career. Looked brilliant early on in the season, form dipped as the season went on but he’s 18 that’s what happens.

A brick shithouse kid of 17 or 18 will probably be bullied by a brick shithouse 28 year old, his physique is still developing he’ll learn how to use it as he gains more strength and experience as will his overall game.

Brought him on now and again, but definitely preferred Batth & Wright.

I’d be happy to take him back on loan just as cover, but not sure if player or Man City will be happy with that.
He played cirkin and Winchester in a back 3 rather than play Doyle when baath only played 1 game in 12.

It's hard to find any justification that Neil rated him whatsoever.

18 year old with a season in man's football, a promotion and a euro trophy in his collection. I would have him back particularly given he probably won't expect to start every game and would be up for the competition.

He was basically the centre back to put on the bench the majority of time under Alex. He rarely played Dan Neil too to be fair, don’t think he’s looking to sell him though.

As I said, he’d be an option for cover purposes but not sure if the player or Man City would be okay with that.

Nice lad
Did his best
Wasn’t managed very well by LJ
But young enough to learn from it and have a bright future in the game
Not ready for the championship right now but wish the lad all the best
