Kalvin Phillips signing for Manchester City

They scraped survival on the final day, Raphinia played the majority of the season whereas Phillips was injured. Phillips is/was pivotal to them functioning as a team. That central area of the pitch without Phillips was nothing short of appalling. Is Raphinia a better player? Oh I wouldn't disagree at all, but don't agree that he's a much bigger loss.

Simple fact (IMO of course) is that they won't replace Phillips with better, as a fan I wouldn't care what the fee is. They are rapidly heading one way right now.

Hope so. Don’t like them as a club.

Don’t mind you rate him, I personally don’t but we’ll see how he goes.

I think he’s suited best to a team out of possession and city aren’t that team at all.

Raphina is a quality player and if leeds had someone who could convert chances last season, his “stats” would be scary good imo.

Not many in recent years. I can’t think of any recently. Ake hasn’t been brilliant, but hasn’t been a disaster
Ake has done nowt for them really and for 50M that is a lot of money.

Ferran Torres, Nolito, Bravo, Angelino, Douglas Luiz, Porro etc all not great either.

Wouldnt suprise me if Grealish ends up being a bit of a poor signing on the whole for the money they paid.

Losing your best players when you're a struggling side is never good regardless of any spin that's put on it.
It's a part of life outside the top 4. Defensive midfield is an area that you can plug for a lot less money, similar to a full back. Losing a top striker or centre back could be more detrimental.

Phillips missed about 50% of the season last year anyway. They used to not having him as much.

He's their best player and struggled without him. I'm struggling to see any positives from a Leeds point of view

It's a strange one, but I think it could link with Haaland coming in as he'll change the way they play. Gundogan gone too, a role that Phillips could fill albeit ...he's not as good.

Okay mate. I dont think anybody is saying Leeds should be celebrating but its a decent fee and it could be a bigger loss like a 20 goal a season striker.

I agree with the poster who said raphinha would be a bigger loss.
I haven't a clue. Why do you think they've signed him?
Decent player in a position they need and homegrown. Which they'll need if sterling goes along with ake.
