Perhaps your right, but in the same vein that will only guarantee mid table mediocrity which, as it stands, will not be enough to match your expectations and Theron lies the problem and the reality of your situation. You need a massive signing but the ones you want don’t want to come yet you are still chasing them. Do you really want players who clearly don’t want to be there? Personally, I think it is embarrassing for you

The trouble is social media - were linked with a player a day. Monday 9am twitter tells the world we're after "player A" and by 9am Tuesday morning "Player A" isn't interested. No evidence whatsoever that NUFC were even considering the player. Personally the only embarrassment is those who get sucked into social media posts that in the main are horseshite.
I usually wait til NUFC.CO.UK release the welcome pics/vids.

Bollocks! Are you telling me that Ekitike isn’t a player you have been chasing last window and this? Get it into your head that he would see you as a last resort if no other bids come in for him? You are deluded if you think that. And what about Botman, I suppose you weren’t/aren’t after him?

Oh my god! The denial is incredible, the historical re-writes are worse than 1984 - you had songs about all the world's top players cleaning your boots that you all liked and shared, and yet now 'no one expected' that level of player. Although the PIF have a controlling interest I don't particularly believe they are in it to make mega-bucks....they already have them.
This is an opportunity to make Newcastle United one of the biggest clubs in the World and for more global exposure for Saudi Arabia.
Some will call that 'Sportswashing' but I don't particularly care.
Who are we to preach to anybody about human rights and other States' laws when we cannot even get our own house in order.
