Franklin Out!!!

Totally agree does not help when North is saying we are way under the salary budget. Had key injuries and England call ups but the season is pretty much over already. Don’t think either of them have brought anything to the club.

Ashton Turner hasn’t been shite though has he? He’s played 3 and a bit games. Two of which after dislocating a shoulder. Impossible to judge him. He’s a big bash winning captain for a reason.

Aye I knar, but we’ve got a lad who took 3 catches in one game man 🤷‍♂️🥴

The alarm bell there though, is that we can’t afford to get ‘up to’ the top end of the budget.

Now I don’t know of course and I’m going out on a limb that you don’t either - but it just offers a different view sometimes if you don’t resort to ‘worst case’ scenario as a first response.
Yes we've had injury issues but we've tried nowt different.

Genuinely, who else is there? Aside from Bushnell, there’s perhaps maybe only McAlindon and MacIntosh (sp?) waiting in the wings.

Perhaps the coaches as a collective have decided they aren’t ready?

I joked at the start of the campaign that we’d probably see Mitch Killeen make his debut this year, because we’d be dead and buried by the 10th game and would hoy a load of kids in - well, the first part has come true, but while we await the second part, it’s probably worth considering that the people who get paid to develop and assess the talent have as yet decided they aren’t ready.

It’s alright a load of know-nothings on an Internet forum whining on like Yoko Ono about giving youth a chance, but it could completely ruin them and knock their development back years if they aren’t ready to make that step physically and mentally.

I was chatting with a pair of lads the other day who sounded like they must be off here, saying it was a disgrace that we signed Ravindra for just one game instead of playing an academy lad. When I pointed out that Bushnell was still playing they said crawshaw should be playing anarl (later turned out his arm is in a sling but obviously the club hasn't announces this)

I always like to point out what a privilege it was to watch sangakarra play for Durham, on how our players said how great it was for them.

It’s a no win situation for the club, unfortunately.

I just wish people would acknowledge that fact sometimes.

The salary cap is irrelevant if the club don't have the actual funds to get anywhere near it, which is what North actually specified on Sky yesterday.

It could be argued we’re currently missing 8 players who would normally be in our First choice XI in all formats. North alluded to that yesterday (and was correct to do so).
You can’t seriously be suggesting that we’re *missing* Stokes and Wood, and although Stokes got a run out post injury I for one never count him as being part of our squad, he’s an England player.
As is Wood.

I have a hard time even calling carse a player we're missing given he's barely played since before COVID existed

Why do so many people have a problem with the lad on the mic? He's totally harmless and it's a thankless task trying to get any type of atmosphere going 99% of the time.

Ok, if the 5 figure offends you, change it to 3*, which still makes atleast 6 players we’re missing at any one time when you add them to those who are currently injured. It still doesn’t alter the point - how many counties** would be able to cope (and be successful) with losing 6 of their starting XI for any period of time?

*Mark Wood is centrally contracted, but he expected to play a decent role in this years Blast. A further injury setback changed that.

**Yorkshire and Surrey may be the exception to the rule, but we couldn’t possibly compete with either of those two financially.

Not offended marra (not sure how you arrived at that assumption) merely pointing out the error of your calculations 😉

If Mark Wood wasn't injured he'd have been in the test squad. We can't compete financially with the Test staging counties, not so sure about the Yorkies given their current financial burdens ,but the salient question remains why ,after years of extremely successful academy progression do we no longer have players stepping up.
Our 2nds in their current game have 2 other counties rejects batting at 1 and 3 and two veteran seamers sharing the new ball. What a message to encourage youngsters.

You are actually taking the piss out of me now aren’t you?

Do I have to link it up for a third time?

Oh go on then…

It is a shocking indictment, but that is more John Windows’ remit, is it not? I mentioned elsewhere, the wonders that man has worked at this club means he’s got plenty left in the bank - but perhaps it’s also a nod to why we aren’t just throwing all these kids in willy nilly….? Could it be that (as I alluded to) they aren’t ready?

The financial constraints placed on the club by FTECB hit all aspects of the club and it was highlighted at the time that the academy would have to be quite drastically cut to accommodate this.

Many will remember that on top of the financial and personnel cuts, the club pulled the Academy XI out of the NEPL.

None of those things were decided or acted upon by James Franklin.

I can’t quite believe that I seem to be the only one putting two and two together on all of those factors. It’s no surprise whatsoever that we’ve had a bit of a drought on the youth development/progression in the 5 years after those cuts.

It’s hardly rocket surgery.

In fairness to them, they have announced that Crawshaw is injured. They put their first ever injury update out last week (probably be the last too) 😂

I'll claim some credit for that. I emailed the club in early June expressing concern regarding communication with members citing particular lack of updates on player's rehab and specifically Jack Campbell's absence. I received a very pleasant reply from marketing director David Jackson stating that they were keen to improve communication and, sure enough, an injury update and Campbell's departure appeared on the website. He also mentioned member's forums so we can, presumably, expect them to continue.

I would expect one in July as there's two home Championship games as after that there's only the Sussex game in late September and Botham's do is on one of those days.
