Franklin Out!!!

several grounds have shown interest in the past but been scared off by the amount of money dccc wanted for the privilege.. absolute shambles. so sick of watching this lot shitting on the history of durham county cc
Been an issue for a long time. Brandon will probably know more about it than most but the club where using Brandon C.C. quite a bit because they where producing good wickets but I think it was to expensive for the local club to put on.
A mistake from decades ago that the county club didn't build up better relationships with a couple of clubs in the county/ region for 2Xl cricket.
This so called nursery ground appears to be another pipe dream.

The subject was DURHAM DEBUT. I’d expect such wailing from others T, but seriously, thought you’d be a cut above that.

seems like shifting of goalposts that like. you asked how many youth and academy played frankling had given a debut to. drissell has been signed on loan this season, and you're using the fact that he's got games ahead of our academy lads as some sort of positive? haddaway and shite man

No shifting whatsoever. Have a look at the previous comments. My question was “How many youth/academy players have been given their debut in the Senior side since Franklin came in?”

George Drissell came to the club in 2020 on a short term Second XI deal.

The only semantic to argue is whether you (or anyone) considers the Second XI to be an extension of the academy or not.

I’m not looking for ‘positives’ I’m talking about whether or not it is factually correct based on the criteria I originally used. Which it unquestionably is.

Too expensive and too much hard work (not worth the hassle) to host. The club absolutely LOVE hosting Durham CCC, but there’s no real benefit whatsoever for any club ground aside from the ‘prestige’ of hosting.

It’s a real shame, because both sides lose out. There are loads of cracking club grounds in the county who would be brilliant hosts.

Brandon CC do have a 3-day Academy fixture later in the year like, but it’s nowhere near as much hard work and expense as hosting the Second XI.

fair enough, i thought drissell was still only a loan player. still thing think its fairly generous to include him but even so, in four years you've named 6 players, 2 of whom played one game then got released. i think most would consider that not many.

unlike most however, i'm not too hung up about that. if he wants to play older more seasoned pros and bring in only the very best of our academy lads into a side performing well, i can respect that.

we've been an absolute shambles under him. i'm not beating him with the stick of 'not playing acdemny lads' but given his results have been woeful, the team spirit looks poor, the selections and tactics have been poor, at least if he had been developing some young players that would be something.

he's been an abject failure in every dimension of cricket - i don't see how wanting him out is 'an agenda' because it is objectively the correct course for DCCC

It’s about the same as any other time throughout our incredible history.

The thing is, the development of young players is mainly down to John Windows and his coaching team. And given what JW has done, to the massive benefit of England and not just Durham, that should never be questioned. Quite frankly, anyone who does question him simply does not know and does not support Durham CCC.

That’s what he has been doing. Our Academy has been trimmed to the bone. That’s not Franklin’s fault, it wasn’t his decision to make. It’s come as a byproduct of the demotion and the subsequent financial restraints imposed upon the club. We’re working our way back of course and I hope within the next few years the numbers will start to rise again.

Again, it can be argued that developing young players isn’t really his job - I’m not arguing that - but what none of us know, is whether these lads are even ready for senior action? The people who are have sprinkled a few lads in over time, at the same rate as at any other time throughout our First Class history give or take the odd one or two as per the ‘factors’ highlighted already.

Well then unfortunately you haven’t been reading what I’ve been saying and that’s a big disappointment given the usual high quality of your postings.

Wanting him out isn’t the agenda. I want him out. The agenda is making up lies in order to paint the bloke in a worse light. There’s enough to get him on without making things up.

He used the exact same lie against Jon Lewis -

Rimmington

It was Jon Lewis who didn't believe in the youngsters not the club

It wasn’t true then either.

The fact of the matter is, if you are going to make a point which isn’t factually true, you shouldn’t get upset and rush for the report button to cry to the mods when someone highlights your lies.

And no T, that isn’t aimed at you.

i get all that, though in fairness it was you that highlighted one minor part of whed's rant, 99% of the post was about results - which you know already aren't good enough.

as much as i respect your posts it has to be said you do seem to be looking for disagreements with him. it seems an odd thing to nitpick over when you both agree that he should be gone from the club.

and likewise this isn't just aimed at you, but i'm getting sick of all the bickering on this forum these days nd the fact it's found it's way even onto the cricket section is very disappointing

Because on a discussion forum such as this, it tends to require people to discuss things to keep the content going.

When I see an obvious lie I’m going to question it.

Problem is, it’s about the eight time now that I’ve proven he’s lying on this particular point, yet he keeps pushing on with it at every opportunity time and time again irrespective of that fact. It’s clear who his role model in life is given that. There’s a sticky atop of the Politics forum warning against posters engaging in misinformation - perhaps this subforum needs the same.

Should we just ignore lies when we see them? To avoid upsetting anyone? Sorry but I’ve never been a fan of bluffers and bullshitters.

Some people are happy to though, just look at the likes it receives.

So I take it this is arguments spilled over from the cesspit that is the politics forum?

I must say, in terms of the T20 fixtures I actually think we’ve been massively unlucky in terms of players missing. Dickson was our best player in the format last year. At the start of the season we’d have never expected Potts to be away on Test duty & Ashton Turner getting injured so early on after a promising start - 3 players anyone would struggle to replace.

It’s the county championship games against Middlesex and Notts that have disappointed me most, as soon as there was something other than a road we crumbled.

I don’t think it’s as bad as it all seems based on a number of factors. I do believe we need a change of Head Coach, however I do think Marcus North should remain seems a decent and knowledgeable bloke whenever I’ve spoken to him.

Yes we've had injury issues but we've tried nowt different. Batting lineup always the same, young lad the fall guy yesterday..... Mix it up a bit and I'd not be as pissed off.

Absolutely. Nail on the head.

It could be argued we’re currently missing 8 players who would normally be in our First choice XI in all formats. North alluded to that yesterday (and was correct to do so).

I challenge anyone to show me another county who could cope with that same adversity…
Couldn't do much worse TBF. He won a County Championship and the Royal London Cup before struggling with the points deduction.

Woah steady, don’t come on here with your FACTS mate FFS.

Unlucky? We knew Lees and Carse (in addition to Wood and Stokes) would be away with England, also Carse, Raine and Potts with the 16.4, and failed to mitigate the problem.

If Dickson had brought his 2021 form to the County Championship we'd have been opening with Borthwick and Jones. As for T20, it's a stretch to say SD was "our best player in the format": he was leading run scorer but other players scored a similar number of runs and he was only fourth in the batting averages. Trevaskis topped the averages in both bowling and batting. Potts was our leading wicket taker, by far, as well as having a higher batting average than Dickson. It didn't help we signed Ollie Robinson and Ashton Turner and they've both been shite. Tye has been a brilliant signing but was pure luck.

I didn’t mention Lees, Carse & Wood because we knew they’d be away…

The Hundred doesn’t affect the T20 campaign & Raine hasn’t got a contract this time…

Ashton Turner hasn’t been shite though has he? He’s played 3 and a bit games. Two of which after dislocating a shoulder. Impossible to judge him. He’s a big bash winning captain for a reason.
