Yep 648-5 Dec v Notts 2009I'm told we've declared about 6 runs short of our highest first class score .. if so that's ridiculous

Tea has been taken now, so 37 overs to goProbably never entered their thinking. I suspect we’d have declared much earlier (possible at 600 or 150 overs) had the two lads been in their 60’s for example or had just come in.
Feels like we’ve declared about 3-5 overs too late given the missed opportunity to have that little burst before Tea at their openers but I’ve got no problem whatsoever with giving the two lads a chance at their maiden FC tons.
37 overs left in the day, the Tea break allows us not to lose any over for the changeover. Good chance to get into them tonight. Worcestershire need 493 to avoid the follow on, which will take some getting!
Similar scenario now of course to down at their place, they can’t win, they’ve got to bat for 7 sessions to salvage the draw. I’m more confident (with hindsight) for us in this one because we’ve got two* spinners in our lineup here which should allow the quicks to stay fairly fresh throughout.
*Trev and Rav, working on the assumption that Borthwick won’t bowl given his wrist injury.
