Rolex Watches

Fair point. I guess it will be a bit different for different people.

There's been a few watches threads on here over the years and I must admit that I now probably appreciate that there are some fantastic looking watches out there (although I also think there are lot that just look 'clunky' to me despite the price) but the prices just seem a bit mad so I'll just 'look at the pictures' :)

I read that reply back and I probably didn't make sense properly. When it comes to something I'm buying for myself to wear, the price direction is a secondary thought. However when it comes to making a profit, I'll buy whatever somebody has asked if I can get them

That’s the problem with Rolex, any chav arsehole can spot one a mile off. In affluent areas like London an opportunist would miss shit loads of better and more expensive timepieces before they clock a submariner or whatever.

I made an enquiry for a new one 2 weeks ago- got emailed back to go into the shop for an "interview" to see if i was an eligible customer.

Enjoyed last weekend but would I xxxx want to live there.
Did I wear my Rolex - no chance

Which one, out of interest?

Any big boy sports model, you shouldn't have even wasted your time tbh.

A lot of AP's and such targeted as well (imagine you think it's an AP and end up with a Hublot ffs).

But aye, you're right in that they're the most easily identifiable

submariner date, 41mm, oyster steel, green bezel, model...........126610lv-00012.
the bonus being it is £8500 from any of the Watches of Switzerland group with4 years interest free credit. You cant get one second hand for less than £12500=- may have to be humble and go for the interview.

Ah yes, the 'kermit'.

You won't get it from them mate, I'm 99% certain of that unfortunately. Currently going for ~20k range grey market.

Not trying to be a bubble popper. But it's practically pointless, unless you have spent tens of thousands with a Rolex AD already by either a) Buying years ago when demand was lower for such watches or b) Buying a load of cabinet sitters and women's watches

This is the Rolex business model for you. All it's done is give retail workers a superiority complex.

Good luck getting what you want mate, but for the price you'll end up paying on the grey market get a JLC or something instead.

i didnt realise they were that scarce/valuable- for what its worth I may as well go for the interview and may be lucky.
I have tried in Turkey and Dubai and they literally have no stock except a few Ladies and a couple of Tudors. i did read that they were ramping up production and there nay be surplus from Russia.

Geneva Airport had a hefty selection. If I wasn't late for the flight I'd have probably bought one

They have increased production, the pandemic reduction played a part in accentuating the price increases.

Dubai has a massive watch market, so doesn't surprise me. You MAY get lucky while travelling, airports etc. But even then, what people spot is often a display only model and not actually for sale

I love JLC - if he's after a sports watch the Mariner date is the most comparable option and it's "only" about 9000 quid.

Happened to me in the Netherlands recently. They had the Explorer in the window...not for sale. Bastards.
