Wear-Tees Derby

Certainly not the first fixture I'll be looking for. It anything Boro always have an advantage going into these games as it seems to mean more to their fans.

If we lose to Boro it’s slightly more annoying than losing to any other side when there’s 3 points on the line.

If we lose to the Mags it’s f***ing gut wrenching.

We only have one Derby.

Sky will probably hype it up as a derby and change the KO time to daft o clock...

The only negative I can see to gaining promotion.

Planning travel, and having organized time off from work for games, to them see the day or KO time changed will be a nightmare this season.

And don't get me started on this World Cup that will disrupt out season.....two negatives then about gaining promotion. Otherwise, roll on July 30th, after the summer off recuperating, and recharging the batteries.

Learned something new today (by looking it up in Wikipedia).

Amongst Sunderland supporters, Tees-Wear is viewed as a derby only by those who live in southern parts of County Durham.

It might be regarded as a derby for the smoggies and the media but it's never been for us. They're just a club in North Yorkshire 🤣

I enjoy beating boro was much as I enjoy beating any other side, though its been a long while since we beat them tbf. Beating the skunks is on another level for me .

Of course it’s a derby. Anyone who followed us through the 70’s and 80’s knows we have history. FTB FTM
Of course there's history, they've been our nearest rivals other than the mags, but that doesn't make it a derby. They're just another club to me and yes I followed us in the '70's and 80's. I enjoy beating Boro but there's only one north east derby and we all know that. FTM

Another boro thread.

Some people see it as a derby, some don't. It is the same for Boro fans. A lot of Boro fans would shrug their shoulders about Sunderland, especially these days.

Social media has meant a lot of our younger fans would get more bothered about us playing Derby County or even Burnley.

Well I don't think that's true.

But living amongst a lot of boro fans it's certainly a big game for me. Tbh I actually think our games will take on more of an edge over the coming years with the mags turning into saudi arabia. They'll always be the team we dislike most but it'll lose something over the years due to the gulf in finances.

Anyhow, next season against you will be a big game for us and I can't wait for it. We owe you one as its been a while beating you!
