The worst perpetrators seem to be those who aren't from Newcastle desperately trying to prove their authentic Geordie credentials rather than being condemned as plastic invertebrate attention seekers. Durham Mags and the like many of whom are ridiculed by true Geordies and called "Mackems". Perhaps this is the rationale for these regular articles.Let's say they're right, our finances are awful and we go bust or whatever. Or go into administration and fall through the leagues further. What is the material benefit that offers that person? Their own lives aren't actually improved, it's not like if we're good Newcastle can't be good. They already have it really good at the moment. The only "benefit" is that they get to see our supporters suffer further. Now I'm all for having a laugh at other teams' expense, but they have that already. We are already in League One and they are the richest team in the world.
The level of glee from the idea of seeing us suffer further, for daring to support another football team, is absolutely deranged. Writing an article for the sole purpose of trying to ruin other people's fun is genuinely weird. Where has that hate come from? I suspect it is from being sucked into far too much online discourse and building this triabalistic level of hatred on the internet.
I know that the author of this article will be reading every one of these comments - I genuinely urge you to take a step back and get off the internet for a bit. If football and "rivalries" is too much for you then please find another hobby. That article is so deeply unhealthy it's unreal.
