NUFC and other Sportswashing Spring 2022

Still haven't worked out how giving away free or discounted tickets to schools and charities, when the stadium had a few thousand empty seats most games, would cause financial ruin.

Those kids would be buying stuff in the ground, and some of them would get hooked and pay to come back. It's also great PR for the club.

And it cost us nowt.

Where is the issue?

It was done by us. We are their world.

Their argument is we had the empty seats in the first place and therefore had the ability to give away tickets, failing to note that the football was awful, we were in constant relegation battles, have won nothing, went 22 months not winning a game at home and suffered back to back relegations. But again, that shouldn't matter according to them, we all know they'd have a long list of excuses if the shoe was on the other foot. I actually think many are deluded enough to believe their crowds wouldn't drop.

They only remained stable when they went down to the championship as they spent £80m on players and were guaranteed to go back up.

Ah reet..I didn't read the article..just the headline which says the free ticket policy contributed to our downfall. But I can't see the link. It makes no logical sense

Aye, if we had 10,000 people willing to pay £30 a pop and told them to bugger off and gave the tickets away for nowt, they may have a point. But that's not what happened, quite the opposite actaully. .

We were averaging 40k attendances whislt having the worst home record world football

If these free tickets were as readily available as made out I’d have saved a lot of money and would probably be able to afford to travel first class rail to London next week, have club Wembley tickets and stay in the Ritz. I’d certainly be able to afford to go anyway.

When I was younger and we were in the same league I used to care about Newcastle, of course I did. But christ, grown blokes writing articles about us when they're the richest club in the world  Fuck me have they got nowt else to do with their lives?

When you boil it down, they wrote that article in the hope that our fans would read it and be upset/ annoyed at our club - to essentially spoil our fun at Wembley next week. All because we support a different team to their team. Really really strange behavior. It's just a game of football lads, get another hobby if it drives you to this levels of obsession and you seriously can't stand another group having fun.

I mean this for Sunderland fans too, if you care that much about Newcastle you need to take a step back from the internet/ football in general.

One of the replies on the tweet from a mag saying we only get 31k and they get 50k every week not just in going to Wembley .

I think he must have forgot we are 2 divisions lower and our whole team is worth around 900k. Its been over 30 years since Newcastle were anywhere near where we are now and their average attendance then was 16k

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus inherited his money from his father. He is not, and never has been, directly involved in the management of the Louis-Dreyfus company. Nor is he ever likely to be. Ownership of the shares the family has (currently held by his mother) is most likely to pass to his elder brother Eric.
Credit where it's due - he must have dug deep to find that headline.

As well as having nothing to do with KLD atm, the article itself also states "Louis Dreyfus was the first of the four entities to halt its business in Russia in early March".

These scumbags are putting so much effort into their owner's sportswashing. Gullible fuckwits.
Saudis commit more extreme crimes, but all in their own country.
Are you taking the piss? Your owners are genocidal, child murdering filth.

And you're trying to compare them to our owners?

Enjoy your new away strip, you sportswashed cretin.

Free tickets and bloo pop and cheesy chips and shoos off and weez keys and urlwaas in our shadow and hot dog sausages in burgaaa buns and that

They all giggle at this crack, sums them up well as a fanbase.

It's pretty frightening that there's people like this whos life is consumed by a club in league 1
I recon if safc ever won a major trophy the same people would kill themselves
Considering the Wembley virgins discredited the league cup because we were in the final then you're probably right.

It is strange behaviour.
It’s a huge superiority complex. Narcissistic and smug , need to put people down and be nasty to others to feel self worth and importance.
Deeply worrying for whoever wrote that article

Goes the other way too though doesn't it. I see Sunderland fans on Twitter/ here where the Mags have utterly consumed their lives. It's really really unhealthy. They just support a different football team to you. Take a step back from the internet if it means that much to you.
