As a heed fan who also support Sunderland at first a was a bit miffed. But it’s literally just black and white flags that they’ve donated to help the club celebrate winning the league.

Can’t see the problem in that and the Vaud outrage is weird.
Agree,Gateshead have overcome major problems in recent years and though I'd say this is a slight PR error there is no need for the anger aimed at them for trying to hype their big day up.

Imagine if Gateshead played in red and white and a load of generic Sunderland flags waving about. The Chronic would spin the story so safc taking over little old gateshead, mags up in arms etc but anytime sunderland fans have an opinion we are obsessed and the phrase always used "chips on shoulders". Gateshead should have told the Mags thank you but no. Gateshead are no long competi g with nufc and safc, but the women's teams, South Shields and even Hartlepool. If you had 30 quid in your pocket and no football allegiance and live in the north east who might you go and watch - probably not Gateshead. 22k turned up to watch the nufc women (which I think could be a one off) doubt you would get 22k to watch Gateshead.

I have no allegiance to any local non-league team so whatever Gateshead FC want to do is up to them.Well done for getting promoted, and a well done to every local team who have been promoted.

Always thought that was just an urban myth tbh.

I once did an interview with Graham Wood (former Heed chairman) for uni and he said this.

Also interestingly said that they applied for a place in the Scottish leagues like Berwick but the old firm knocked them back. Apparently they were worried that us/Mags would attend the home games when we're away and create a challenger...😆

Correct and Ive enjoyed watching them over the years. If anything they pick up more casual Sunderland support than Newcastle, but stuff like this makes me just not bother.

I go to most games and this is simply untrue, I'd say its a 70/30 split truth be told. Infact I'm not even sure if it's even that close.
Gateshead fans are mostly MLF. FTM
They ain't though are they?
Trust the Chronic not to mention the bastards who voted them out.

Simply untrue though isn't it?

Correct
Be at Sunderland on Friday and Gateshead on Saturday, safc always come first .

Fans group lends generic black and white flags to local team with the same colours.

What's the issue?

We'll see how generic they are won't we?

I'm sure Gateshead could manage to celebrate without a few flags.

Having Newcastle flags there is unnecessary and slightly insensitive to the Sunderland people who'll be there.

They’re not going to bring Mag flags man. It’ll probably just be generic black and white ones since they play in the same colours.

Is there any cloud that people won’t shout at? No harm can come from helping a non league team out.

Don't like Gateshead fans since the Baldy Bastards in a Minibus , returning from a away match attacked a bus full of returning Sunderland fans at a Service Station

So what is it, definitely not or probably not?

As I said, we'll see won't we.

When wood was chairman I spoke to him a few times. Back then safc and NUFC got discounted admission and he told me that they had more safc sc holders attend than NUFC. Unless it’s changed recently I was told that as fact.
