So they are going to make the occasion all about them by flying nufc flags? I can only think this is about the extra few quid this will bring in, plus the majority will be mags anyway

Is there any info about this available online? Would be interested in finding out more about what happened.
Can't find anything other than this from the chronic regarding being voted out in the 60s

'Gateshead finished third bottom and believed re-election would be a formality. After all, two other teams had finished below them - and rivals Southport were facing their third successive fight for survival.

In the event, Gateshead were disgracefully voted out - and replaced by Peterborough United.'

Trust the Chronic not to mention the bastards who voted them out.

Can't find anything on it, how would nufc have any chance of voting them out? I would love it to be true but theres literally nothing about any other than 4th division teams voting them out

Waving flags generates an atmosphere?

Interesting.

I think all league teams had a vote on the decision.
That’s what my da told me anyway and he was a regular at Redheugh.

Found a little quote that might explain it, bearing in mind gate money could have been a factor

'Gallant Gateshead are out of league football. Gone from the tough competitive scene are a team who have always played hard and earned their own little corner in soccer history. They battled in the shadow of the great Newcastle United and Sunderland – for cash as well as points. They were always fighters, but now their ‘colleagues’ have kicked them out.'

I would ban all flags from all grounds.
Sadly we now have them at SOL.
Another modern obsession foisted upon us.
Can we not be trusted to create an atmosphere without props.
As for Gateshead who have Sunderland season ticket holders in attendance they need to take a serious look at themselves.
