CC :: Worcestershire v Durham

Seen Carse referenced by two England journos about being in Stokes mind for the first test

One to watch
The fact he can bat is absolutely huge for him, as it’s a real issue

I know Woakes has a good record in England but I think he’s massively on the wain

Let's wait until he's played in England before stupid comments

Stokes picked Carse, Mahmood and Parkinson in those ODIs he was stand in captain for, be great to see all 3 in tests this summer

Also dropped broad for wood against the windies

It’s difficult to pick an attack without knowing who will be fit but I really really hope we don’t just pick Jimmy, broad and Woakes as our attack, be a mistake in my opinion

They’ll all play their part it’s not a balanced attack

When archer, wood, Robinson etc fit we will have lots of options like

Worcestershire have done a ‘get to know the opponent’ piece on their website -

Interesting take from them on Petersen:

The addition of South-African international Keegan Petersen at number three looks like an astute overseas signing that will provide even more class to this batting line-up.

It seems only a matter of time before he makes his first half-century, following some unusual preparation for the championship season.

He found himself in the field at St. George’s Park (Sahara Oval) on April 11, facing Bangladesh and then batting after just five overs on April 14 at a chilly Chester-Le-Street against Leicestershire.

Information there for anyone travelling, I WILL make the trip one day, cakes from that ladies pavilion are meant to be fantastic.

It's the exact opposite -Borthwick is an incredibly popular figure at both Surrey and Durham which is a testament to his character given his inconsistent form with both bat and ball for the past 3 seasons. He's of proven ability who should be at the peak of his career at his age. Guidance from management and coaches is long overdue and has been lacking -that's where the criticism is directed.

Looks from that piece that Durham members can’t use all the facilities in their pavilion?

Because he admitted he's good in England so let's see what he's like here before deciding
To be fair, despite posting this simply to provoke an argument, you actually have a point. Woakes averages something like 16, 19 and 25 in his last three home series.

However you simply can't build a team around a player who can't play away matches. Carse is 90mph, 6'4" and will work in all conditions.
