C.C:: Sussex v Durham (Hove)

Things looking ominous for Durham depending upon the size of first innings deficit and how Durham bat second innings the debate will be what is worse the batting or the bowling line up.
Wooden spoon looms if this form continues and is not immediately reversed
Another innings defeat on the cards

This game is as one sided as the Notts game. Wooden spoon beckons.

Did Rushworth manage four overs before we worked out he was concussed?

it's kind of odd he played on yesterday and started today before suddenly being took out. questions probably need to be asked if he should have carried on at all. steve finn explained about concussion protocols a bit on comms, and it seemed like you'd either be took out at the time or before the start of play. but i don't understand how concussion works, it's possible he started feeling headaches during play so they immediately pulled him out, which would be the right thing to do. agree it's odd though. and also agree we're getting hammered here

He didn’t play today

It’s more than possible symptoms appeared/worsened overnight - that’s common with concussion.

It’s why the protocol adopted by the NFL (who are leaders on this, justifiably) last for days with players needing to ‘clear protocol’ over a period of days, not just immediately after the event.

It's not "a dig".

It's a reasonable question: why was the physio slow to disagnose concussion and remove Rushy, when Trevaskis was straight off last week.
I'm not being sarcastic but have you never heard the term delayed concussion?. The immediate test is to ask the victim a series of questions to which they have been previously familiarised. There is a passmark to reach to be cleared to continue to play. However delayed symptoms i.e. Sickness, headache can develop, often overnight.

Cheers, I just went off the other post and assumed he'd started today
Our bowling attack is bread and butter for a batsman of Pujara’s quality.

Especially without rushy. I think most county sides would say the same

Off for bad light. Pray for rain tomorrow!

Aye. Just noticed the Tweet was 10 to 11 this morning.

Aye well it’s delayed ain’t it

Probs shouldn’t have been allowed to bowl though you’re right tbf

Of course you are being sarcastic. Everyone has heard of concussion. I've been concussed.

I incorrectly thought he'd come out this morning as I tuned into the stream at 12:00 and they were anouncing the "breaking news" that Rushy was concussed and wouldn't play any further part in the game, and assumed it had only just happened.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I didn't accuse you of not having heard of concussion, simply pointing out that concussion symptoms can be delayed.

Well watched about half of today's play and have to say I couldn't honestly say I thought there was any lack of effort just lack of quality especially against Pujara.

Not sure where we go in the short term if we are struggling to compete with Sussex.

Sussex are a much better side than their early results suggested. Pujara and Rizwan were not available for the start and they have made some astute loan signings to cover injuries. Whoever called them the whipping boys did them a huge disservice and was only kidding himself.

See my post above, concussion can take time to manifest itself.

Trevaskis wasn’t straight off either, bearing in mind he took two blows to the head before being withdrawn.
