C.C:: Sussex v Durham (Hove)

But (in fact) Trevaskis has a far better batting average(27.05) to Jones (22.15). Now will we ever develop as spinner unless we give him opportunities.

cricinfo carries different averages (still slightly in trev's favour - 25.4 & 23.6) but given jones just hit a recent century and is a top order batsman it seems odd to argue trev is a better bat.

i agree about his development but the team comes first. plus you can make the same argument about developing a top order batsman if you're going to drop a young lad who got his first ton recently.

if trev is still slightly feeling his injury it's a no brainer. likewise if he isn't going to bowl much and we're struggling for runs it's a no brainer.

given sussex have just signed mason crane on loan though suggests it is a turning pitch so probably would be a good shout to pick him if he's ready

Are you seriously saying that people who are around the workplace on a regular basis can't form a reliable opinion of how well the leader is respected?
Cheap excuse and nobody would have mentioned body language or anything if we had won a game

I pointed out career averages which don't lie. Jones has had a century recently but it was against an injury ravaged attack. It's patently obvious we need a more varied attack-Trevaskis provides a variation.

Pointless trying to have a reasoned discussion with you.

Trev faces the same attack and had the chance to cash in.

I agree we need more variety in the attack and am usually championing his selection. It just wouldn't surprise me if we take this opportunity to leave him out for an extra bat, if lees is fit otherwise they'll both get in anyhow, if Trev is fit

edit: if Trev isn't fit and Jones is dropped for drissell though, can we both agree to kick off? 😂

Trev didn't have an opportunity to bat against Leics ravaged attack when Jones scored his 2nd inns century, both failed in the 1st inns before the injuries struck.
Scoring runs shouldn't be a problem against Sussex attack(Robinson is still unavailable), bowling them out maybe.

Well kind of true. Wright got injured very early in the first innings but had already got Jones out by then but yeah of course it was easier to bat in th second innings when we looking to declare. The fact remains it was a good knock and pushing the pace isn't always easy (just look at our second innings against Glamorgan)

We declared before Trev got in like.

Neither of them have a run apart from that 2nd innings v Leics where both opening bowlers were injured.

I'm not people are just making things up to have a go at the coach
Trust me people aren't making it up & it's a fairly common observation/statement made by members at the ground. Again it's merely opinion, but it seems a common/popular opinion. I just look back at the one day cup last season led by Walker/Gidman and the players were absolutely buzzing as good as I've seen since the peak times of Geoff Cook. It is what it is, we have to keep plodding on & hope we can get a much needed win very soon. As a note for folk suggesting a pile on/knee jerk as we haven't won yet, I said this on the 18th August last year "I hope Walker is still in charge tomorrow. He would be in charge permanently if I had my own way". Nothing has made me change my view so far this year.

I occasionally unignore him to see what he's saying and usually regret it

Aye. Just think it's a tremendous shame to have to ignore anyone and seeing one sided arguing is a faff on.

The pure football-ing of the cricket forum is depressing like, and that doesn't just apply to chops but they seem to instigate more arguments than anyone else.

What is one sided arguing shall I just agree with everything then

I think they will try and shore up the batting and fill the spinners role with badger.

lees, dickson, jones, petersen, bedingham, borthwick, eckersley, raine, coughlin/salisbury, potts, rushworth

Honestly this lad can't help but be right sometimes 😜

Time for a captain's innings!
