Or inspire their young players by having a superstar around the dressing room?

I also don't think we can cry for more to be done to improve the county championship then criticise when it happens.

I loved getting to watch sangakarra turn out for Durham and there was alot of positive noise about the influence it had on the youngsters

Same here when Chanderpaul was at Durham. What a player to watch and just imagine what the lads could learn from being around him, watching him and in the nets together. It can only be good for county cricket having world class internationals on the circuit.

Sangakarra was at Durham for 3 games

I get your argument I just don't agree..if it happened all the time aye, but it doesn't. And if these seconds players were good enough they'd still get chances. I just think being around test class players can only be good and maybe better for developmental reasons than a game or two they might not be ready for

Err....we brought in Kegan Petersen for 7 games so he could get in some practice on English wickets before the test series in August.

He's arguably kept Clark, Crawshaw (England U19), Mackintosh (Scotland U19) or Bushnell out of the team and he's been shite.

Slightly different as Petersen is our main overseas signing

I find the trend annoying, it happens a lot, its why I didnt mind Bancroft, was here all year in all formats

Not comfortable with people bringing in for odd games, distorts the league

We've got Bedingham for the whole season as well as Ashton Turner to captain the Blast team. Not to mention two SA-origin players on UK passports.

We had Young for three or four games last season to get into nick for the NZ series. His 82 at Edgbaston helped beat England.

I would certainly question the practice of giving overseas players practice on English wickets, but maybe - as Durham fans - we should challenge the practice at our own club before crying about others.

Well I've been pretty vocal about it like I think the balance in our side, especially the batting, has gone too far that way

i couldn't care less if KP scores 10,000 runs against england in the series here so long as he wins durham a few games, but that's me

I'm definitely Durham over England. Just pointing out the double standards of crying about Surrey signing up players to get practice in on English wickets while we do it.

I doubt KP will get 500 runs never mind 10,000.

I certainly wouldn't object to England players playing a bit of Shield or even grade cricket in Oz before the Ashes. Might make the series competitive and worth watching.
