Yeah like I said shame he hasn’t made the transition one would have liked.2 centuries in 100 test inns says he has neither.
Yeh, he's probably already made a fortune from white ball cricket. Is it a lack of ability or lack of desire to make the transition to red ball cricket?Yeah like I said shame he hasn’t made the transition one would have liked.
However is white ball record clearly shows he has both in spades.
Probably lack of practice at red ball as @The Rat alluded is main reason for meYeh, he's probably already made a fortune from white ball cricket. Is it a lack of ability or lack of desire to make the transition to red ball cricket?

Don’t think lack of ability or lack of desire more technique and unable to adapt from one format to another successfully
The players who can adapt from one format to another truly great players for me.
120+ first class matches and his record is pretty much identical to Ned Eckersley's.Yeah I took a bit of a breath when I seen that and I am his biggest fan!!
Obviously it is Root.
I suspect what he meant was he thinks he is probably one of the most naturally talented and more championship cricket could only help him get better at red ball cricket.
All probably irrelevant now as I suspect he will stick to white ball cricket, where he is simply a brilliant player.
Probably lack of practice at red ball as @The Rat alluded is main reason for me
Yet he is probably one of the most well known English cricketers in the world.120+ first class matches and his record is pretty much identical to Ned Eckersley's.
He's been dropped by both the counties he's been at, he's played the equivalent of 8 full seasons of CC cricket and 57 test matches. He's also NEVER batted in the top 3 for England in an ODi.
When the ball is doing something, Jos doesn't. But I've given up hoping people will see what has actually happened, rather than what they wanted to have happened.
Go on than mate I stand corrrected it’s the correct and right point though. It was me that made that point![]()
I know. Imagine if he'd been any good.Yet he is probably one of the most well known English cricketers in the world.
Well maybe that’s why globally he is known as much as any other English cricketer because he is very talented and good.I know. Imagine if he'd been any good.![]()
We talking white ball cricket now?Well maybe that’s why globally he is known as much as any other English cricketer because he is very talented and good.
Just a thought!
Has anyone on this thread actually said he has a good red ball record though? All I've seen is people saying they wished he had transferred his white ball game to red ball cricket. We talking white ball cricket now?
I wasn't.
But then, as I said earlier, I've given up any hope of people looking and his 12 year first class and 57 test career and judging it on what he's actually done.

Whilst carrying an injury from The Ashes. (Or recovering whichever way you want to put it)Overbowled and gets injured...I'm shocked
I was taking about him been talented and good as a cricketer which he clearly is and renowned worldwide as a global quality cricket player. We talking white ball cricket now?
I wasn't.

Yes. We have people saying he's the best and/or in the ten best batsman in the country and he just needs more CC games. We have people saying it's a shame he couldn't translate his county championship form to the test arena. But you see he did transfer his county championship form to the test arena, that's the problem. Equally poor.Has anyone on this thread actually said he has a good red ball record though? I thought it was people saying it’s a shame he could it take his white ball form into test arena and not county championship form into the test arena as does not play in the county championship! So no idea why anyone would say that?Yes. We have people saying he's the best and/or in the ten best batsman in the country and he just needs more CC games. There's never been a doubt about his white ball game. Although isn't it interesting that he's never, not once in 148 games, batted in the top three where he might have to face a moving ball. Anyhow, I get that he's proper good bloke and criticising him means that I want the Test team to lose. We know how this works by now so best leave it.

And could it be perceived your criticism of him means you want the test team to lose.
He is not even in the test team!!
Thought the discussion was about Buttler he was given a go at test cricket based of his clear talent in one day cricket not really based of his county championship form.Does that apply to any player, or just Buttler?
