As predicted....

Yeah I took a bit of a breath when I seen that and I am his biggest fan!!

Obviously it is Root.

I suspect what he meant was he thinks he is probably one of the most naturally talented and more championship cricket could only help him get better at red ball cricket.

All probably irrelevant now as I suspect he will stick to white ball cricket, where he is simply a brilliant player.

How do you know? Has he slid into your DM’s and told you?

How do you know? Completely unfair comments

Still desperate to play test cricket, hasnt retired from anything.

Top 10! just a typo

Its really not that big of a statement!

Bairstow and Root are the best red ball players we have in terms of county records, if they played like every game every year they'd be miles ahead IMO.

But we've picked so many players from coutny cricket in the last 6 or 7 years, and Buttler has done better than all of them, despite barely playing any red ball cricket at all

My only point was as you say if an alternative univerise where white ball cricket had never been invented, he'd be a lot better.

Dont think its a big over the top point at all.

The last point, you are probs right but its not 100%, all depends on who gets appointed and what the plan is long term for schedules etc.

He had a bad year but was pretty good in the spell before that, he gets unfair stick on here, considering almost everyone above him scores less runs than him

For example the next time we go to Asia, if its played on spinning wickets like we got in Sri Lanka or India then he absolutely has to be in the side. One of the best players we have on the beaches, big reason we won 5 in a row in Sri Lanla, which most other sides dont

I don’t, just like you don’t know that the opposite is true.

What I do know, is he’s in India now making £millions to play white ball cricket whilst several of his teammates have expressed a desire to prepare for the English Test summer.

He was dropped from the squad

I think with Buttler it’s inevitable he plays in the IPL as he is one of the best T20 players in the world.

If he was just interested in the money would have just focused on that and packed in test cricket ages ago as some players have done.

Me personally (obviously don’t know him) I think Buttler comes across as a top top bloke and clearly is respected massively by his peers.

Just unfortunately has not took to test cricket like we would like.

However he is in my opinion one of the most talented cricketers England have produced in recent times and whether he has cracked test cricket or not ( probably hasn’t) he should be still respected as a simply brilliant cricketer.

More of an argument for staying at home and playing himself back into it then, isn’t there…?

No as he’s set to lose a huge red ball central contract

Very unfair comments

All he has done for English cricket to be labeled as just a money grabber

Ridiculous tbh

I think this sums it up perfectly. Comes across as a great lad who does want to play red ball to me. He also seems to have a great cricketing brain and would be test captain right now for me if he was established in the side.

Yeah it is such a shame he has not made the transition to test cricket from white ball as clearly has a great talent and brain.
