CC :: Glamorgan v Durham

I’d entertain the idea of Borthwick opening with Lees too, but that’s entirely dependent on whether he’d want to do it.

Jones at the very least deserves first dig though following his performances last season.

The worry comes when Lees joins up with England in the summer.

Jones for me is a bit like Trevaskis he deserves to be given his chance and a decent run in the team although Trevaskis for me should be playing all forms of the game for Durham he is in our best Xl regardless who is available.
Perhaps with Borthwick and the captaincy they want to see if he can score more consistently at 4.

FTECB haven't listed Lees as unavailable so presumably he plays. Jones at 3 if(when) we lose an early wicket and Trevaskis at 6 as he's the 6th best batsman available imo.
Mind we might struggle to name a Durham XL :?:
He's not centrally contracted, so unless there's an organised England training session or game they have no say. So they can fuck off.

They could always ask us nicely, of course.

Noticed tonight that Glamorgan have a podcast (it’s called ‘Oh Glammy Glammy’ and is available in the usual places) so I gave it a quick listen to see what they were saying about us.

Within three minutes the presenter asked the ‘guest’ to give his opinions on who would threaten Glamorgan’s bid for promotion - he said Durham and Leicestershire can be put in the ‘won’t trouble us’ bracket.

F*cking no nowt prick

I hope we absolutely smash these c*nts!

He obviously has no recollection of our last home game against them in September when we bowled them out for 97 and we replied with 503-8.

Just smacks of someone who is ill informed. Probably totally ignorant and quite clearly hasn’t done any research.

We could well have a Test Match quality top 6 for the first two months of the season, but some knacker from Glamorgan reckons we’re no better than Leicestershire

Not the first time, the bookies had us favourites for relagation before a ball was bowled in 2013.

Oh aye, I remember it well.

The thing is though, this time the bookies have us as third favourite to win the Division (at 5/1). Leicester (along with Sussex) are 20/1, yet he completely dismissed us as being no better than them.

TBH I have no idea how Durham will go this season. I can see some good, even very good players but, I think it's up in the air. I'm not confident about Borthwick doing well with the bat and I think he's the hinge player - if he scores well Durham will do well. imho.

Interestingly at the members’ talk in last night, Badger was talking about off the field issues he had last season. There were problems selling his house in London as the transaction was on/off due to covid, so he was kipping at his parents’ in the NE and his family were still down south. They are now moved and settled up here, which he implied was a relief.

He also said that he would move down the order to bat at 4 when Peterson arrives, which he thinks will be an advantage as captain. He sounds very positive and optimistic.

At least Carlson has got rid of his 1980s mullet for this season.

Good luck to the lads tomorrow and hopefully lets get off to a winning start (weather permitting).
