It just seems mental to me that we take our best players out of the competition and therefore deprive our younger players of playing against them and with them.
No wonder the quality has gone downhill.

Should still have enough in the squad to beat Glamorgan, then hopefully Stokesy can play a full part in the next 6 games for us.
I get the impression that Root really doesn’t care about playing county cricket, the good thing for us is that Stokes is the opposite of that - atleast that’s the feeling I get, he wants to play every single game.

If you listen to some people though, it’s the counties that are the problem with English cricket.

No not true on Broad, him and Jimmy are on central contracts, theyve explained that if they want to play the first test or be available for it then playing in 7 rounds of county cricket before it is too much

because he wants to play county cricket which is why he didn't go to the IPL
There is absolutely no way Ben stokes should be playing 7 day 4 games before the first test

Not sure why he's unavailable for next week though when he's not played cricket for 3 months. Surely it's best to play early as possible if he's wanting to be selected next month

He could play all 7 and still have a fortnight to three weeks worth of rest prior to the first Test.

Yes he will want to play but purely as prep for international summer. I doubt Stoked thinks playing a championship match in the first week of April is required. I bet he hasn't even joined up with the Durham squad yet probably away on holiday with the family. Looks like he didn't make the team photo either.
