Defoe talk-in - Roker Hotel tonight

Best ever goal was against Newcastle - obviously.
Only manager he never got on with was Eddie Howe - what a surprise.
Ground he used to love playing at was SJP…………because he always used to score there - what a surprise.
He retired because his body can’t do it anymore and it gives someone else a chance to do what many people were hoping he would do and score the winner at Wembley.
Talk about patronising. The people who organise this shit treat people like idiots.

There's an attempt by some to push the Defoe stuff onto KLD and the share issue, and the two things shouldn't be grouped together. Also it was a fundraiser last night by all accounts, that shouldn't be forgotten. And if it was poorly organised that's unfortunate, but again that's nothing to do with KLD either.
A lot of people seem to want to have a pop at KLD especially of the share %
I was one of them when it first broke as well until I looked at it a bit closer.
We'll never know exactly how much he paid for his shares, we also don't know how much the club is losing on a monthly business.
What we do know is Donald wants a certain prices for his shares and will be happy to sell them all at this price however KLD thinks this is too high for a league 1 club.
This is why I think buying only 41% is quite an astute business move, he becomes the highest individual share holder becomes chairman with control over the running of the club, the losses however don't fall entirely on to him.
As I've said we have no idea how much the club is losing but if we said it was losing 1M a month KLD would have to fund £410,000 and the rest would have to shell out the other £590,000 over a year that would cost the muppets around £7M in a year, that means KLD would have saved £7M from financing it himself for a full season if we get promoted KLD buys the remaining shares at the price that was originally agreed.
However Donaldand co would be £ 7M short compared to if they had sold last season at a fairer price. The longer we are in league one the more money Donald loses.
KLD had had his pants down yet Donald thinks he's Billy big bollocks by hanging on to a % to cash in when we get promoted yet he will have list millions in the process.
I have stated that I have no idea how much the club is losing I just use £1M a month as a ball park figure

And whilst KLD is proving what an astute businessman he is, his partially bought football club is languishing in the third division.

Reading that, it sort of makes sense, but is that how it actually works? If we get into the Championship does Donald stick his price up?

The problem with the whole scenario is if we want to aggressively invest, we’ll struggle as you can’t make someone else open their wallet but it’d make no sense whatsoever for KLD to do it to hand the value if that investment to Donald free.

This 100%. No fan should give half a shit about share price and business acumen when we are looking at 5 years in league 1.
Anyone half astute with half a plan would not have Sunderland in league 1 - it takes real skill to underperform so badly

As I said an astute business man his main objective is to look after his own interests and I'm sure he wants us promoted as much as we do but he will do it his way

Ok, talk fact and truth, all this shit would have gone away if KLD paid what he promised to pay.
There would now be a new owner in the club, a billionaire but no he offers 2/3rds of the agreed share price.
JS don't count because KLD has a deal in place with him to cover that.
OH and CM and SD will continue to fund the club, because they both have enough to do it

Telt yers it would be pointless

Your right
CM doesn’t. SD is rich enough too without losing ower much sweat

His way as it is is looking likely to see decreased season ticket sales, more financial losses and deeper malaise setting in.

Kicking off over what? the peas?
The sound. Half of the room couldn’t hear. Defoes cousin actually took the mic at one point to tell one table to be quiet. From his point of view they were being rude and talking among themselves. He was completely unaware of the sound problems.
Just because of arseholes talking amongst themselves while Defoe was talking.
Half of the room couldn’t hear mate.

I’d say by his messages he was pissed last night but

Probably cos they couldn’t hear !
Tbf Barnes microphone seemed twice as loud as Defoe’s but I could hear him fine when muppets weren’t talking amongst themselves after being called out to stfu by a few people at different times.

Not sure if you noticed we were in league 1 when he bought us, his biggest mistake was not sacking LJ at the end of last season
