Members lounge at Durham

Cracking value. I'm going to struggle with the second half of the County championship as its all midweek but can do at least one day of all 1st half and then all the blast games. I'm satisfied with the amount of cricket I'll see for £200

Anyone know when they're sending membership cards out?
Cards sending out start of April

Used to take my late mam in regularly as she was disabled and was able to sit at a table near the front at the window. The staff were always brilliant with her (and with everyone else). Food is ok, normally a decent choice and then there's the sandwiches and snacks. Not the cheapest but probably better value than the various vans outside. Drink is ok and as mentioned, discounted for members.

Does look a little tired/dated so hopefully the refurb gives it a welcome refresh.

It's a shame the sun wasn't around when the ground was being developed so they could have planned with it in mind.

I think you’ve misunderstood what I said.

The square faces the way it faces - as do lost cricket squares to avoid the potential of the sun stopping play…

For example, late in a days play, when the sun is getting low and is suddenly behind or close to being behind the bowlers arm.

Used to be dodgy batting second at the old Burnopfield cricket ground, especially cup ties in mid summer 🌤️🏏

Sure but my point is the members area didn't have to be built where it is, the media centre for example looks down the bowlers arm. The members area could be above or below that, or have the media centre opposite depending on who wants views of lumley

I don’t really have an opinion either way on the members end location… I just pointed out why cricket squares generally avoid the direct line of the sun ;)

Yup, it’s in an awful location for viewing cricket in the stand that has the shade for most of the days play

For those critical I can confirm it's vastly superior to Glamorgan!

A much smaller area in general and instead of being alongside the ground as at Durham, meaning a long view of the ground, it goes alongside the indoor school so you can get great views of the nets, with only a tiny window looking out into the ground with a whopping 10 chairs of unobstructed views of actual cricket
