Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Then he loses the main source of income for Russia.

And Germany etc would have to find some short term alternatives.

It might make the oligarchs who own Gazprom etc to finally do something about Putin.

You think it's only Germany? 😂

There's half a dozen countries get 90% of their gas from Russia and some 100%

What do you think would happen in countries where domestic and business gas supplies stopped or were vastly reduced. Cast your mind back to last year when Brits were queuing and even fighting on forecourts when it was merely rumoured that petrol supplies were running low.

Well my personal answer would be "so fuck?".

I have a Ukrainian wife so I have a bit of skin in the game. Time is on the Ukrainians side, they don't need to win but to just stay in the game and let the Russians eat themselves.

As I asked another poster what do you think would happen in Western countries when domestic and business gas stops flowing?

The Russian Embassy in Dublin having a massive hissy fit about a violation of their embassy because someone pulled their gates off with a lorry.

They don't really do irony, do they?

Statement from the driver reproduced from the Guardian.

"I have done this to create a safe corridor for the Russian ambassador to leave Ireland, go through Poland [and] let home walk through Europe.

I done it for this lady here and her kids who were killed in Irpin. It really affected me last night and I’m doing it for them. I want the ambassador and his colleagues to leave this country, leave this free country."

If they consider ram raiding their gates a barbaric action I wonder what they think of killing little innocent children.

Fuck them.

Ukraine could agree to the Crimea and Donbas terms from Russia’s offer. However no way should it agree to become neutral, cannot trust Russia not to invade again in a few years, back in 1994 and ukraine getting rid of their nukes Russia agreed never to invade them again ……..

“It did so with assurances secured in the 1994 Budapest Memorandum that signatories, including Russia, the U.S. and Britain, would “respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine,” and that none of those countries would ever use their weapons against Ukraine “except in self-defence.”

f***ing hell, every day that passes makes me more in awe of the Ukrainians. Absolutely incredible how they’ve responded, they’ve an incredible sense of togetherness and selflessness that I’m not sure many other countries could match.
I wonder if Kaz, Jaz and Shaz would stand up for the UK in a similar position.

Don’t think it would happen mate as it would stop one of the few sources of income Putin has left. It could be the final straw for the oligarchs as well

Gas isn't that important to Russia, oil is far more important and China have already said they'll take what they can if he cuts gas supplies to Europe off.
It wouldn't stop flowing though, maybe restricted as we adapt. It's a pretty sad state of affairs though that a European sovereign country is thrown to wolves because western Europe have there comfortable lives slightly encroached.

You think not being able to heat houses, cook food and run a business that uses gas is a "slight encroachment on a comfortable life"?

Is that last sentence a sly dig at the Kremlin by any chance? Good on you lads in Dublin a priest was on radio there last week wanting to burn the embassy down (only the building not staff) 🇮🇪

Good on him. I hope the ambassador spends his whole day in fear, every day.

Note I said Germany etc, not just Germany.

I suggest being less hasty to lol at me and taking more time reading and comprehending.
