He’s another with an election looming ain’t he?

At the minute it seems the only people in place to take over from him are the Communists. They are disjointed and agree with his views on the East anyway. It’s so hard to get a handle on wtf is going on in their country. Mad bastards.
Yeah, next month they have elections, I don't mind if he's playing to the crowd tbh, we need somebody from Europe/West to be actually talking to him and I'd pick anyone over Johnson, even if it is pretty much pointless.

Im hopeful if the regime topples somebody like Navalny can be freed and they slowly turn into a much more fair country for the populace. I can see it being years and decades though, so might take a few slightly less mental ones in the meantime.

Interesting piece on the Russian defence minister, no military service but wears the uniform

I am not a fan of our government but Ben Wallace comes across as able and competent (unlike a lot of his coleagues), particularly how he keeps Kier Starmer and Ian Blackford on board. A bit concerning about the leak of him 'mocking' the Russians at the security meeting; we don't know the context but questions should be asked who leaked it and what was their intent. I dread to think what state we would be in if Gavin Williamson was still Secretary of State for Defence.
SIR Gavin please 🙄

I don’t mind Macron. It’s better to try and fail than not try at all.

I’m not as erm sold on Navalny as a lot of people. He is another with an extremely shady background. I will admit he’s be a massive upgrade on Putin like. If he was the threat to Putin like some want to make out he’d be dead.

Vlads problem is he can’t go unless he can guarantee the next one won’t go after him. It is the reason Medvedev was appointed for that term. Medvedev would have allowed retirement in peace. They reckon the Arab spring was what brought Putin back as the President. His fear it would happen there, to them.

He needs an out, somehow.

Are you insinuating the Syrian Civil War has ended, because it's not on the news anymore?

It's good enough reason to believe the article is a load of nonsense, Syrian gangsters on the way despite an ongoing war in their own country. No wonder people believed Boris about the NHS bus!
No kidding - there's still a war in Syria? (Although it has been at stalemate for 18 months)

There you go again - as sharp as a knife.

Ukrainian marines claiming that they took out 30 helicopters in a single attack on an airfield.

No photos yet so slightly sceptical but the Ukrainians have been hammering the equipment losses and there are videos of attacks at the airfield last night.

Artillery fire it seems

Being reported a lot this tbf. Big if true, that’s a lot to lose in one go. Using them to move troops around is becoming a real issue now for Russia, especially with all the man pads being flooded into Ukraine. That part of it is playing out like it did in Afghanistan for them.

Their already is a war in Syria, has been for a long while it hasn’t just stopped Marra.
Thanks I know. The Syrian Civil War has been at stalemate for the past 18 months but it wouldn't be difficult to re-escalate it the US thought that it was in their interests. That puts the Assad regime in a position where it is unlikely to want to provoke such a reaction by making a token military guesture to the Russians .

That's the Russsian who having participated in & been the victors of both the battles of Stalingrad and Berlin are unlikely seek the help of others for instruction in urban warfare. I believe that their military pride alone woud rule such an idea out.

There’s already a comedian on the stage who knows when it’s time to play the grown up serious role without self-interest. Something that buffoon, nor his sycophants would ever recognise.
Posted this on another thread which sums up my thoughts:

Zelenskyy vs Boris.
Ones a professional comedian who it turns out is a Churchill like statesman, the other thinks he's a Churchill like statesman but it turns out he's an amateurish clown.

Wonder what the Russians is like

It will be at rock bottom I would have thought.

- lack of briefing meaning the first waves were cannon fodder
- lack of provisions including food beds and warmth
- Putin ordering the the burning of their bodies to hide death tolls
- Most don't want to be there and Russia don't care if they die.

I will have missed some things as well but if I were a soldier the above would be pretty crushing I would have thought.

Hopefully, at some point they will turn on their masters. Once the economy collapses and the soldiers and police no longer can be paid properly.

different angles of the same russian aircraft (su-34) being shot down by some type of air defence missile.
there's also a video of the pilot a lt colonel (remarkable if he survived) and images of what's left of the plane on the ground.
this is possibly the pilot who another helicopter crew were shot down trying to rescue him(?)

It’s clear Putin isn’t going to back down and becoming more unhinged. Nothing coming from him can be believed anymore.

I know there is a chain of command to set off the nuclear missiles but I’m starting to think that that command is unhinged as well otherwise Putin would be dead now. The only way out now for Russia to save face is the nuclear option.

I’m starting to come round to the idea that we have to get involved militarily and massively risk a nuclear war in order to prevent a certain one if Putin carries on with his despicable campaign.

I hope Putin dies very very soon.

He wants to have the standing of Churchill without any work. He has apparently written books about him but doesn't know an awful lot? Davies showed him up with his comments in the commons. He wants to be like him, but having his palms greased by the current enemy and banging posh birds is more important that running a country.
