"Mike (Ashley) ran the club very efficiently. But he was honest with fans he didn't have the money to invest"
Which is, as i said in first post, her telling the truth not praising him.
Not fair to (rightly) criticise her for spouting shite about Chelsea, then doing the same when she simply tells the truth. He did run the club well. Had he not then we would not have been in a position to be taken over, we would probably have been in a similar state to SAFC (and that is not a dig at SAFC).
Richard Masters of the Premier League spoke at the same Financial Times affair today as Staveley and referring to Chelsea and Abramowich said “Russia and sport don’t mix”.

What a hypocritical wanker.
You are correct however is anyone shocked by that?

My point was missed. A while back she was siding with the fans about Ashley and said some slightly disparaging remarks about him. Since this court case her stance has conveniently softened

Saw this story this morning, which others will no doubt have seen by now:

Alan Shearer and Jermain Defoe have got behind a fundraising campaign for a Jesmond boy battling neuroblastoma.

The pair are urging Newcastle United and Sunderland AFC fans to donate what they can to help little Rocco Troiano, three, receive potentially life-saving treatment abroad.

Nice to see Defoe doing stuff like this again, and Shearer as well.

He needs another 80k. Newcastle Supporters Trust are currently holding 210k of fans money that they say they are “working to distribute to local charities” (and have apparently been doing this for more than 6 weeks now)

Surely there is a solution here?

There’s a difference between supporting a team and supporting a regime, but you already know that
there's also a difference between supporting a team and marching on parliament to beg them to force through a sale to a terrorist sponsoring journalist murdering kid bombing regime then partying in the street when they bribe the organisation to get it through, but you already know that.

she said it was unfair it was being taken off him. its not. he's just selling it in case it is seized in the future. he's losing fuck all.
Disgusting if true
aye, but they spent nearly 100m in january so who cares about that.

Just read this. Reuben Brothers and their relationship with Russia.

A 20 year old Financial Times article highlighting how Reuben Brothers got rich taking advantage of the break up of the Soviet Union.
This is from a 2005 article on how Reuben Brothers emassed their wealth.

“Dubbed the “metal tsars” in Russia, they are estimated to have made some £1.3 billion in their dealings there. In the post-Soviet era, when other investors shirked what was an untested market, they bought up a large portion of the privatised aluminium industry through their company, Trans-World.

As the business climate chilled under President Vladimir Putin, the Reubens sold Trans-World for £300 million to Sibneft, the oil conglomerate controlled by the Russian tycoon, Roman Abramovich. It was a far cry from their poor upbringing in London.”

It was 2 different posts, the first post was talking about fans and whether they care about the owners during a game, the answer is for 99% no

second post was about how football is everything to some people in that their life revolves around football i.e. the hardcore fans who travel to every game no matter what

Try and twist it however you want, I’m not bothered and will only explain myself one last time. I know I’m right and you are wrong

Goodnight

Your wit is the stuff of legend good sir, good night to you too

Your fans cared about Ashley during games. They protested during games. If you weren't winning you'd care about the owners. Pathetic excuses for human beings apologists for a peadophile and mass murderer.

I LOVE the replies about a media agenda against the owners. How DARE they use the word agenda considering the Saudi agenda against the female and LGBTQ+ communities in their country.
Media agenda my arse. The media have been disgraceful since sheikover. Same as the gravy slurpers moaning about R. Masters, when hes been a disgrace also.

Just in case not seen ... FT today ... "Amanda Staveley, the British financier who helped secure the acquisition of Newcastle United by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, has defended Roman Abramovich’s ownership of rival football club Chelsea amid mounting scrutiny of investors in Premier League teams. Staveley, who owns a minority stake in Newcastle, said it was not “particularly fair” that the Russian-Israeli billionaire decided he had to sell Chelsea as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Saudi Public Investment Fund’s £305mn purchase of Newcastle last year provoked renewed scrutiny of the buyers of clubs in the Premier League, the richest domestic division in Europe by revenues. “I’m sad someone is going to have a football club taken away because of a link they may have with someone,” Staveley told the FT’s Business of Football Summit in London on Thursday. “I don’t think that’s particularly fair to be honest. “We’ll always have geopolitical issues, this world is never not going to have problems,” she said.” ... ... I believe this is known as ‘talking your own book’ ...
