Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Well an invading country won’t stop, it’s awful mate rather see soldiers killed than innocents that’s their duty and their job.

Firing rockets isn’t a training exercise nor is it they are not sure why they are there. They are firing on innocents it’s a whole different ball game war crimes.
I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but the lad just has an alternative opinion. It’s no less relevant than yours.

I would imagine there will be a plan in place to get him out if and when Kyiv goes. Would be interesting if NATO told the Russians they we’re going to fly him out, whether that would be regarded as the sort of intervention that Putin warned would trigger a response.

Putin would be incensed. If they capture Zelensky I would not be surprised if they publicly executed him.

They want him dead at all costs

But you are suggesting Ukraine roll over. So if countries followed your approach, Putin wouldn’t have to spend much resource. He could just threaten nukes and take over.
Oh f***ing hell, this is like groundhog day, the same question being asked over and over again without progression from the answers I give. Anyway, I"m out, I'm off out to play footy and get pissed shortly. Enjoy xxx:lol:

Won’t be long before he’s gone IMO. Will be horrendous too. Hope the bloke stays alive but someone will give him up eventually

Its not a case of not fighting back, just not fighting back in the way Ukraine are...but, its a hypothetical scenario, we have no idea how an invasion of the uk would look.

Its been really interesting following the opposing views on this

I think its not up to us how the Ukraine population reacts, as being from a Western country we have absolutely no idea what day to day life is like under an oppressive regime

I have a few Romanian friends who were brought up under Ceaușescu and the stories they have are chilling

I suspect the Ukranians have decided that risking death with chance of victory is a better position than rolling over and living day to day under Russian rule

I think we all know that as soon as the fighting ends then every country that has applied sanctions will be looking at when they can be scrapped - politicians have very short memories when the economy is being damaged

The armchair generals and WW3 fans on here need to take note of that.
I've not seen any armchair generals or tactical genius' on this thread. So one has suggested how the war should be fought. What people have done is support Ukraine and say they would fight themselves rather than surrender if it was the UK instead. So should we label those who would bend over cowards? On this thread you gone from defending Putin and criticising people who saw this coming to now insulting those who oppose your own position. Get a grip.

Chris Bryant (chair of the APPG on Russia) was on LBC earlier explaining the sanctions that the UK government has so far applied to Russia and Russians.

It was excellent and very informative. I urge anyone to listen to it and if you do you will see that I’m not playing the political tit for tat game here.

Today’s episode, from 19:20 in.

To add to this lads and lasses and sorry for quoting myself :)oops:) after the interview with Chris Bryant (and also after a commercial break) former BBC investigative journalist John Sweeney, currently in Kyiv came on the programme.

I urge you to listen to this BRILLIANT and informative interview.

So sad about the civilian deaths at the beginning (so beware if you’re uneasy about that) but then spoke about Putin and it being the beginning of the end and about Ukrainian resilience.

Clip here on the bit about Putin:

Full interview is worth listening to though and as I mentioned, comes after Chris Bryant - so roughly 32 minutes into today’s show:

It all goes on will he press the button, it’s not as simple as that fortunately, it’s not just putins call.

I know the nato troops want to help I know a shit loads of British lads who want to deploy to help out,

The best thing we can hope for is a Russian revolt and turning against putin

It’s all opinions and my opinion is watching innocents die whilst we have the resources to stop it is horrible and heart breaking. And that’s why I stand on we need to help.

Many others will think different but that’s where I am
Is there a non-Nato "peace keeping" option? Is it just the UN that could broker that?

The Russian speaking parts I’m guessing 😉
Absolutely, which most people speak both. Here's a mind fuck for you, I was taught how to speak Russian by a Ukranian who classes herself as Russian, has a Belarusian grandma and has a mother who was born in Russia but classes herself as Ukranian. See, Russia/Ukraine....its all class, mainly because they're mad as fuck:lol::lol:
