Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Now that isn’t a good headline. Not in the slightest.
It isn't at all and I'm hoping it's just hot air rather than an actual threat the Russians will do something about it.

Great, you went to University, thanks for trying to downplay my opinion and exacerbating yours.

Simple answer is Russia isn't happy with NATO creeping East, it's black, white and definitive in reason.

Russia is a nuclear superpower and it's biggest 'opponent' is expanding and building military bases around them, after promising they wouldn't and the justification of this expansion is the Russia bogeyman.

But all that doesn't matter because the West is morally superior.
Who cares if Russia is happy about more countries choosing to join NATO.

NATO isn’t an ‘enemy’. It poses no threat to Russia. That’s all in Putin’s head.

Russia annexing Crimea and trying to get the Donbas shows why countries want to join NATO as the Russian threat is real.

Its “biggest opponent” is growing because of countries that were formerly in the Russian orbit, hated it, and chose an alternate course.

Russia hates that. They hate that people hate Russia. But at some point that was going to come to a head, and appeasement of Russia by abandoning people who desperately wanted out of the USSR into some neo-USSR run by Putin alone is not the answer, nor is identifying with the Russian point of view going to gain much sympathy. They had their chance with places in Eastern Europe. They screwed it up to the point that they need armed invasion to get what they want. In most situations, that’s referred to as being on the losing side of history.

I think the prime minister has to write a sealed letter at the start of their time in number ten explaining what he'd do in the event of a nuclear attack on the country (assuming they are compromised). Basically saying if he'd launch one back or not.

They have four options: No attack, attack, up to the commander of the submarine to judge the situation and decide, or give another allied country command e.g. the States or Australia.

I think only Callaghan has said what his letter said, which was that he would have fired in retaliation (this bit might be wrong, but it is what I remember!).
Fair dinkum…nuke the bastards

The company I work employ a young lad from kviv, we managed to get in on the phone today to see how he was or if he was still alive.

The conversation we had was heart breaking, to hear a grown man cry that he was struggling to get out to get food for his family and also the medication one of them needed was awful.

After this he insists that he will make his deadlines on the projects he has.

He sounded defeated but also defiant that Putin would not win.

Awful awful times they are living in

The letter goes to the commanders of the submarines & only come into play if the government is incapacitated.
