If Russia take a beating we have to insist they collapse all their Nuclear arsenal before we can agree peace. Theyre the only country in the modern age that has made threats with it. Even NK know thats asking for trouble
Biggest country in the world with a massive army. They are absolutely unbeatable on home soil as history has shown. Let them go home with their tails between their legs.

I was a little too young to fully understand the major impact 9/11 would have on western society. For many, it ended an era of innocence and prosperity. Everything looks different pre 2001, even tv shows like the sopranos and the west wing show a shift in society.

I feel now, we are at a critical juncture again in western society. This could be the dawn of a new era, or a tragic end to one
I miss the 90s

Surely it will all be spun as aggression from the West, rather than fury directed at Putin?
I think with social media today it's harder to do. Hearing Russian speaking civilians in distress and pain won't go down well in Moscow.

Your living in cloud cuckoo land if you think this in any way finishes with Russia giving up there nukes
It's what we should be taking to the table. I know there's zero chance but they are the only people with Nukes that have threatened to use them. Humanity needs them out of the hands of people who would watch humans be wiped off the face of the earth

Russians have form for revolution. When people used to holidaying in Cyprus have to queue for bread and police don't get paid he will go.
Never thought about the payment of the state workers, but that does make sense. Plus this isn't like a normal protest, a lot of the police will be sympathetic to the people protesting.

I do think Vlad's days are numbered one way or another. The master of bluffs has self combusted now that his bluff has been called.

Imagine big bad Russia having to beg Belarus and Kazakhstan to help. He has completely shown himself up.

I can't understand why Putin hasn't been strategic so far. all seems so haphazard - unless he has some wanted some kind nuclear war as his endgame all along?

Putin will spin it that way.

I listened to a piece on 5live the other day, some American financier who had spent a lot of time in Russia close to the powers that be and he reckoned that plenty of ordinary Russians are struggling financially anyway and blame Putin for this meaning he is under pressure at home.

He called the Ukraine invasion the actions of a desperate dictator using deflection tactics to save his own skin.
