For mediation there has to be genuine concerns on each side and middle ground.

Unless Russia agree to end the invasion and let Ukraine return to democratic independent nation then there is not much to mediate.

I wonder if the ICJ get involved then the (wider) UN will, and I wonder if that could lead to a peacekeeping force like what was seen in places like Bosnia (and Cyprus, Lebanon and the rest)

I think we are doing the right thing at the moment. We are surrounding Russia by basing ourselves in Nato countries for example Estonia. The Americans continue to provide air support in the outskirts. On top of that everyone seems to be chipping in with weapons/sanctions for example. Some countries took their time but fair play it seems most are stepping up now

Seems to be a fair few stories coming out now of caught Russian soldiers saying they didn't realise they were invading and have been lied to. I honestly hope and think this will all end eventually with Putin overthrown from within or by the will of the Russian people. Would be the perfect outcome.
