Roman Abramovich hands over ‘stewardship and care’ of Chelsea football club...

I thinks it means he’s looked at what’s gone on and tried to pacify his bit, Russia are wrong in Ukraine but that doesn’t make every Russian person a tw_t
My very humble opinion
He is or at least has been in previous years, possibly pre-Chelsea ownership a close ally and confidante of Putin as revealed in Parliament in the last few days.

I’m not sure stewardship is the same as legally owning something. More days that he wants them to look after the club while he’s busy with other issues

If it’s a registered charity the charity owns it and the charity is led by trustees. He has give up ownership if it’s now part of a charity

I read he got approval from Putin to buy Chelsea. Part of the Russians and their money gaining influence in the UK. Plenty out there documenting it, yet our great leader happy to allow it.

but he has never looked after the club..in terms of his time..he isnt a director of it,...not alone chairman or CEo...if the foundation become the owner, then his company..fordsham stops being the owner?

chelsea made a bit of a profit last year prior too pandemic..
He was always at the club until a couple of years ago. I went to a gig at Under The Bridge and he was wandering in and out if the stadium and was in the gig for a bit.

Sky have been sucking the Saudis off for months so cant really turn on Chelsea.

Money money money is all that counts to them.

Scumbags.

This is what sportswashing is…

Compare and contrast the two articles. One from Sky Spots News and the other from Sky News…

Sky sports news one refers to Ambramovich as ‘Russia-born’ and ‘alleged links to Putin’

Sky News one refers to Abramovich as Russian and refers to his ties with Putin as being a matter of public record.

Possibly reading too much into it but SSN one definitely feels like they’re trying to maintain Ambramovich’s image as cuddly benevolent football club owner.

Tha wanker only bought chelski to give him a high profile to stop him being assassinated, he also gave putin a 120 million dollar bung a couple of years ago,
The prick's a crook, fuck him

If anyone is bored and has half an hour to spare, read this

From there: It is worth reminding people of Mr Abramovich’s background and the character of the man. We are speaking here of the man who manages President Putin’s private economic affairs, according to the Spanish national intelligence committee. This is a man who was refused a Swiss residency permit, due to suspected involvement in money laundering and contacts with criminal organisations. Abramovich was also deemed a danger to public security and a reputational risk to Switzerland.

Abramovich initially came to the UK on an investor visa. In 2015, the Home Office tightened the rules around those visas, so that applicants could be required to prove the origins of their wealth. In 2018, when his visa was up for renewal, Abramovich withdrew the application. When he bought Chelsea FC, Abramovich was the governor of the Chukotka region of Russia. It was alleged by associates of his that the purchase was done at the behest of the Kremlin. As a result of the purchase, he now has enormous soft power and influence in the UK. I ask the House to come to its own conclusion about whether this man is acting at the behest of the Kremlin or Putin’s Government.

No. He's simply depositing them and putting them in trust. He will retain beneficial ownership (ie, the right to any proceeds of sale).

Absolutely not true. He hasn’t given up ownership at all. He’s passed stewardship. That’s a totally different thing to passing ownership of the shares.

Donald passed stewardship of our club over to the CEO, but he still owned the shares. Ashley passed stewardship on too but still owned the shares. They are totally different things

What with, if the government seize all his assets and Russia are kicked out of if Swift banking he can’t put a penny into the club. They could be fucked here
he doesnt have many assets in the UK..he has an israeli passprot and a porteugeese one..as a citizen of those countries he has rights
Charities either get some form of protection in law or he and his team are f***ing off abroad.
abramavhich went abroad years ago...he proabbly still has a lonfon house but he doesnt live in the UK and had his visa revoked..
