Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I’ve seen a video that I won’t post on here of a Russian armoured vehicle driving through a street and I’m not kidding about 50-100 civilians pepper it with Molotov’s seemingly burning the Russian soldiers to death. It’s awful viewing. You feel sorry for the young Russians following orders but you also can’t help but want to fist bump the Ukrainian civilians. They don’t want this and they are willing to fight to the death.
War is the worst thing on earth

I lost one of my mates in Afghanistan but he would have been the first one to oppose soldiers if they invaded his country in the same circumstances

They did their very best to stop it's modern day equivalent. Voted against the Dubs amendment but we're defeated in the Lord's. Ultimately got through but the government closed it down by capping the numbers at 480 after which it ended.
Why do they have such inhumane policies? They simply go with what their base want in order to retain power. It's the people who vote for them who are really to blame.
I think they’ve misjudged this time by restricting refugees from Ukraine when every other country has said it will welcome them with open arms. Even the brexiters on this thread are wholly behind Ukraine and taking action.

I find it really hard to cheer for stuff like this, you have to commend their bravery but a loss of life is still horrendous. You have to wonder how this will effect the normal, everyday people in Ukraine who are now firing guns, potentially killing people, throwing molotovs to burn people. That shit will stay with you man

Stuff like this destroyed my dads mental health. He drank to cloud his memory. It’s hard to imagine even though I lived it as well.

Owa lasses cousin from Sunderland was killed in Iraq 18yr old

Just hope this is over quickly with loss of life as low as possible (Ukranian and Russian) only a few days in and the videos and pictures really pull at the heartstrings

This whole cheering the thing like its a football match is sickening tbh

Also it won't last. If this war is still going on in a month's time, when the Ukrainians really need solidarity and support yo leep them going, all the people currently desperate to make a connection with the Ukrainians in these moments of incredible defiance will have moved on. Refugees and retreats and defeats and guns that don't fire because they're out of bullets aren't nearly as exciting.

Good post. It’s sickening Putin and his gangster henchmen have put thousands of normal people in this situation, imo.

Tbf Afghanistan and Iraq showed how hard it is for even the best military to invade a country. The population tends to get rather pissed off.
I was saying this the other day - Vietnam and Afghanistan, when the Russians tried showed that the resolve of a nations' people makes it very hard for "Blitzkrieg" to actually prevail.

Why wouldn't they be...one opinion does not take away love for your fellow man :D

Not a dig mate, just an opportunity to shout the obvious and expand on hope 👍

Maybe this shows they are not the elite army that was feared one day would quickly sweep across Europe unchecked.

Maybe they are actually a bit shit.
I can’t help but think that the main first wave have been the troops that Putin classes as dispensable. There’s a hell of a lot of kids, judging from the videos online. There’s a lot of conscripts being thrown at Ukraine.
