Democratic and stable means talking to neighbours without sticking the boot in. Would you say Russia did that with Ukraine? Are Russia attacking or defending?

All those people not going back to the families will hopefully create an anti war sentiment like in WW1 before the 1917 revolution. Terrible thing to say but it’s the best outcome right now.

My opinion is, I don’t like any of our leaders, East or West.
I don’t trust any of them.
I wouldn’t fight for their cause and I certainly wouldn’t lay down my life for them.

It is fairly obvious what is.

Are there free and fair elections?
Are political opponents arrested or killed?
Are members of the public arrested or killed for protesting or just not supporting the government?
Is the media independent.
Or in the case of the Iraq interventions, is the military leader gassing and bombing their own people?

And many more.
